My preferences were Bailey->Tate->Love->Styles. I never thought Tate was an option so I was really surprised when it happened. Funny how things don't leak when your head coach isn't boinking

We are going into the next several years with QB, WR1, and EDGE under rookie contracts.   While Love would have been great, Tate brings a ton of value. For example, even with the huge pay cu

Also as soon as Love was picked I was gonna be upset with Styles at 4. I was getting prepared for that moment. Non premium position. Borganzi has common sense it appears with allocating premium draft capital at premium positions. His first 4 picks in the top 2 rounds have been QB, Edge, WR, Edge. We know his pattern now in what to expect in future drafts.

Reese was the best prospect on the board but he wasn’t as good a fit this year as he would have been last year. Tate fit a bigger need. I understand why they took him but I am still not super excited by Tate personally. He’ll be a good WR and a massive upgrade at X but I’m not inclined to believe he will ever be a star.

I am more excited with the Faulk pick. They saw value still on the board and made a move to go get their guy. He fits a need as well as having a big upside in Saleh’s D.

I posted a Reddit thread discussing this about a month ago.  Basically the arguments were that you do not take running backs that high no matter how good they are because it costs you not only the player you could have taken but additional players in future years because it does not help cap management.

Let me go on record now and say a RB at #4 is a terrible idea. I don't care who it is.

Yep.

The elite top teams like the Rams and Chiefs wanted Tate

I know just the thought process is dumb unless they somehow had nobody graded near Delane that risking him dropping a couple picks was too scary lol.

Reese should be a star at OLB in a 3-4 defense.. the Giants were lucky to get him.. Bailey would have worked as a 4-3 DE, but it wasn't meant to be.. I wonder if Malachi Lawrence going at 23 to Dallas had any influence on the Faulk move..has there ever been a bigger rise from the end of the season to draft night than Lawrence??

Mostly I suspect it was simply his availability still at 31. But if Lawrence was there at 31 instead I could still see them moving up.
