Would not be shocked if he picks up another extension and new title this offseason I see this being the way it goes myself. There's no way Vrabel is easy to work with in terms of power sharing. Cowden is Robinson's guy through and through, so if I were the org I wouldn't pair him with Vrabel. My knee jerk reaction is that pairing him with Ossenfort makes the most sense, or Jon Salge. Don't really like the idea of going outside the org. Thrill

I actually think you could be on to something here. This could easily be part of a larger, multi-year plan that coincides with the opening of the new stadium and an effort to build peak excitement in the team at the right time. A few years of "decline" followed by a steady rebuild that culminates in a shiny new QB/RB/whatever else to go with our shiny new stadium. It wouldn't be a terrible business move, but it would take some pre-planning. Edited December 6, 2022 by moosle
oldschool
@ctm hope he's wrong because Varbel shouldn't be installing anyone as GM. japan
9 Nines
It should have been done last week. Doing it now is a very big mistake. CreepingDeath, and XAEA12
titansfan
I will say I think our front office is a lot healthier than what it was 7 years ago. We have a lot of smart minds there. I think the impact, longterm, of this move will be minimal. I'm interested to see what the vision is. Remember, the new stadium does add some added pressure, so we can't completely bottom out. Popular Post Jamalisms
I've harped on a number of his mistakes, from early pick failures to trading AJ to the OL to even his inability to find a kicker worth a stale fart in a mitten. I've also noted that the team's talent level took a step back since 2019 and 2020 ... but that's connected to the other stuff above. But I still would have said he's decent at worst and it's pretty shocking for them to move on. Although I know that others in the org were highly considered and maybe that's the key? I would also have to think that he and Vrabel were butting heads, otherwise this really just is hard to understand at this point. Kinda wild news. Popular Post titansfan
I do appreciate what JRob did for this zombie organization from when he took over in 2015. I'm also glad that our owner isn't satisfied with being good enough. Jonboy, Starkiller, titanskick8851, and 3 others

ShadowCreek
Love love love the move. AAS has proved she is a great owner and I always think that a good owner is the most important factor for success for a professional sports team. She is not fucking around. I see this as purely a football move. I don't get the board's obsession with JRob being a great GM, he was mediocre at best. Not finding a franchise QB, not building a solid OL, not having singed a single second contract with first round picks, Dodd, Wilson, AJB, the list goes on. I think the most important task for the new GM is to find a franchise QB, whether vis trade or draft. Tanny is not a franchise QB and he can't take a team deep into playoffs. He will be gone after this season. LongTimeFan, and ctm

The timing seems most likely to be about draft season ramping up. If they knew they were going to fire him, do it now so you can recruit your new GM to lead the draft process from relatively early on, potentially with some of his own scouts involved. TeamRamrod
Yeah I don’t understand how doing this now is helpful. I guess it sends a message to the fanbase, but who cares? Idk if the “getting a head start on the search” is a very strong argument either.
