This fumble was so so bad. The pocket was clean and he decided to hurdle over a defense lineman on the ground and lateral the ball while tripping and falling down. Comical. The guy is not NFL Quarterback material. Cut the loss sooner rather than later.

Plays frenetic, bad pocket presence, drifts randomly, inaccurate, traits that can't be easily corrected. Levis is not the answer. Time to move on.

Hiring an unproven head coach is like drafting a quarterback, it's a crapshot. Callahan may have crushed the Press Conference, but once the games kick off, he has as good a chance turning out to be a Nathaniel Hackett, as the next Belichick, or anywhere in between. But I would rather roll with a new coach than a retread. Let's give him three years and hope he turns out to be a keeper. Vrabel turned out to be an arrogant meathead and deserved to be fired. Keeping Willis and having him ahead of Levis told us all we needed to know about him as a coach.

Love the way ASS runs the team as an owner. You don't hang on to a mediocre coach worrying: 1. if you fire him, there are 10 teams lining up to hire him. 2, who can I hire that is better. He is not Bud, who hang onto Fisher for nearly two decades. You give a coach 5-6 years, and if a coach hasn't won a championship in his first 5-6 years, he is probably not going to win one. You move on and go try another coach.

Levis is a naturally talented NFL QB

Some of the things that Will Levis did in his first game were already so much better than Tannehill (not to mention Mariota) could ever have done. A lot of these, you just have the natural talent, otherwise it's very hard to learn. 1, Deep ball, Throws will a beautiful arc like Russell Wilson in his prime. The most important thing for deep ball is to throw with a high arc, making it a lot easier for the receivers to catch and harder for DBs to defend. Tannehill's deep balls always looked like a line drive, very hard for receivers to catch. 2, Play actions. Levis has smooth and natural motion and footwork, looks like he is handing the ball off. Tannehill just stretches his football hand out for a mere moment and and pulls back right away. very obvious and not effective. 3. Pump fakes and shoulder nod. Again very natural and Levis already did these multiple time in one game with great effectiveness. Tannehill was never able to do it consistently like Levis did. 4. Audible, already seen Levis making adjustments at the line several times in one game, which I don't recall Tannehill doing much this season. 5. Also, everything he did you just felt that he was doing a lot quicker, handing off, footwork, and most importantly, quick releases.

I wonder whether it had something to do with Willis being a very likable person in the locker room. Seems everybody in the post game press, Henry, Hopkins and Levis, came to his defense for the fan booing. Maybe the coaches really liked him and wanted to give him every chance to succeed. But either way it's not a good look for the coaching staff. Willis just can't play at the NFL level.

Report: Titans preparing to start rookie QB Will Levis
ShadowCreek replied to lilkhmerkid4u's topic in Titans and NFL Talk
My prediction. The offense runs much more efficiently with Levis, instead of being stuck in the mud with Tannehill, who couldn't move and couldn't throw a decent ball any more. Levis keeps the starting job for the rest of the season. All predictions are wrong until proven otherwise. -
Vrabel on the injury status of Tannehill
ShadowCreek replied to AussieTitanFan08's topic in Titans and NFL Talk
This coaching staff will lost all credibility if they don't start Levis and trot out Willis again. Talent can't be coached and Willis doesn't have the talent to be a NFL QB. If they think they can coach up Willis, who had to be benched in the most critical games last season to be replaced by a guy on the street, then they are delusional. Willis should have been cut after last season. -
Ranking NFL quarterbacks who could get benched: Six candidates Didn't read the whole article as I don't have ESPN+. But I'm hoping Tannehill has another bad week and gets his ass benched. His deterioration started last year and really should not be starting any more. Even when he was at his prime during the first couple years with the Titans, he was mid tier at the most. But now he is completely a bottom feeder.

Anyone watch the Neflix Doc on QBs(Mariota)?
ShadowCreek replied to OILERMAN's topic in Titans and NFL Talk
Just finished watching the series. Incredible show. Some random thoughts. 1. Playing quarterback is truly the hardest position of all sports. Takes incredible talent, hard work and dedication. 2. Mahomes is a generational talent. The guy is so talented, and does everything so well on and off the field. Works hard, driven and great leader. 3. Unless he is injured, Mahomes and the Chiefs are going to be a dynasty. 4. Used to not like Cousins, thought he just got lucky in Washington. But the guy worked extremely hard and maximized his talent. 5. Took so many hits, and having to do so much therapy and recovery to get ready for games every week. Doesn't look to have great joy playing the game. hard to imagine he'll have a much longer starting career. 6. How to take hits as a NFL quarterback is a talent and skill itself. The great ones like Brady and Manning are able to throw the ball just a tad quicker, and not take a direct hit full front and a lot of times turn around and take the hit falling down. On the other end, Cousins and others like Tanny throw the ball at the very last moment, and take huge hits. 7. Cousins is such a nice person. He knows how to perform sometimes, such as you like that and the chains stuff. But such a nice person nonetheless. Like others said, I became a fan of the guy. However, I think he is just not good enough to take his team far into playoffs. 8. Mariota is just not talented enough to play as a starting quarterback in NFL. If he is smart, just finding backup roles and making the dough. After all, a failure as a starting NFL quarterback is still an incredible success as a person. 9. And finally Tanny is probably very similar to Cousins. Worked hard to maximize his talent, but can't take the team far. Only if everything else falls right around him, maybe can go deep into playoff once or twice. -
It's like he was trying to outdo Belichick. Belichick would trade away key players in their prime before they go down hill. Robinson didn't even try to sign high draft pick players a second contract, he thought he could keep replacing key players with new draft picks while his track record of high draft picks was hit and miss, more missing than hitting. Another of his sins was oftentimes he traded away late round picks for going up a few spots in early rounds to get the players he wanted, he was missing on those players while his late round picks were pretty good. You can't be overconfident with your picks, should just use as many draft picks as possible and hope some of the picks work out.

Love love love the move. AAS has proved she is a great owner and I always think that a good owner is the most important factor for success for a professional sports team. She is not fucking around. I see this as purely a football move. I don't get the board's obsession with JRob being a great GM, he was mediocre at best. Not finding a franchise QB, not building a solid OL, not having singed a single second contract with first round picks, Dodd, Wilson, AJB, the list goes on. I think the most important task for the new GM is to find a franchise QB, whether vis trade or draft. Tanny is not a franchise QB and he can't take a team deep into playoffs. He will be gone after this season.
-
Broken or not, after three straight playoff failures with Tannehill unable to deliver at critical moments, anybody that still thinks Tannehill is elite and can take the Titans to the Superbowl is delusional. I think the Titans will have another good regular season, get into the playoffs but will have another early exit from the playoffs because of the quarterback. I think JRob and Vrabel have drawn the same conclusion and the only reason they hang on to Tannehill for another season is because of his contract. Titans will part ways with him after the season and look for a new QB or turn to Willis depending on how they think about the rookie after one season with the team. I'll be glad to eat crow if things turn out otherwise.
