Yep, let’s steal Bolton and Smith.

The way I see it is that both teams build primarily through the draft and generally retain their blue chip talent.  They stay out of 1st wave FA where the ROI is awful.  I'd also have to believe the scouting criteria they use is either the same or very close given the Wolf/Ted Thompson on down the line roots (much like Belichick disciples using their grading system in places like BAL and TB and here when QC was around).

I like the fact Borgonzi was there building them up even before Mahomes as they were still making the playoffs.

Aside from the rough patch with Herm Edwards, the Chiefs have always been good in my lifetime.

They had a rough time after him too.  From 2007-2012 I am guessing they were among the five worst teams in the league win/loss wise.  They had one winning season but they were mostly terrible in that time frame.  Edwards was fired in 2008 so they had four seasons after where they weren't very good aside from that one year.

The way it was described to me, the GB Way involves maximizing picks and being patient with prospects. Chiefs traded up to get Mahomes when they already had a QB. They've also been active in FA iirc. They immediately dumped Smith when they realized Mahomes was the future, instead of developing Mahomes for years AND of course they acquired Smith via trade.

What I like more about the Borgonzi hire than anything is that he has been trusted at the highest levels by an org that has consistently produced results. If AAS wants to get the stink off, she needs to continue matching good judgment with the proven judgment of others.

The packers traded up for Love and dumped Rodgers when they deemed he was ready lol

That was when they hired Todd Haley right?

Yeah.  Then Romeo Crennel.  The 2012 team in particular is one of the worst teams I can remember.  Certainly worse than this year's Titans team.  And they ended up picking first in the worst draft class maybe ever.  They were in desperate need for a QB and because the class was so bad they traded for Alex Smith, which worked out but I'm sure Andy Reid would've preferred to take his own guy.  Do you remember who the first round QB was that year?
