tgo
Whew - Hardegree - smart move. McCoy was highly criticized as a play caller, but is a strong leader type. I think Hardegree is the best move as play caller. titanskick8851

Thats his only experience, right?
TampaTitan
Did PK just say Brian was hired largely because he was a playcaller? Huh?

Hardegree being the QB coach also has a ton of 1 on 1 time with Cam, more so than Callahan does. CreepingDeath
Popular Post OILERMAN
Callahan is essentially fired and they're going to let him ride it out. This is exactly like Brinker taking over the GM duties Carthon's last season. Callahan was hired to call plays and keep continuity for the QB. Without the playcalling duties he's a lame duck. They probably want him away from Ward(play calling) the rest of the season before they fire. This is an in season termination. rns90, bondra316v2, prometheus, and 18 others

Popular Post IowaOiler
I think Brian is probably better at play-calling than game management, but that's like saying @Bongo59 is better at analyzing football than practicing medicine....he fucking sucks as both, but if you have to rank one, I guess that's where you'd put them. japan, Mythos27, CreepingDeath, and 12 others 1 12
TitanUpNorth
I was at yesterday's game, it was pathetic This team can't tackle to save their lives, WRs get no separation, Ward has no one to throw to. We need to stop signing washed up WRs and get Ward a true #1 he can grow with...this team is years away from contending anyway Edited September 23, 2025 by TitanUpNorth

If Brian suddenly learns how to manage a game, then maybe he can save face...I don't see it happening though. It's more likely Bo is auditioning as OC for the next HC. tgo
He's saying this of course because his next job is going to be as a play calling OC. titanskick8851, rns90, and cenj 2
Popular Post NashvilleNinja
Hopefully this results in more competency on Sundays with game management and we start to become more efficient and even competitive. Callahan swallowing his pride, even if the mandate came from someone else, is a positive. It's an indication that he's willing to work with people. Obviously it's self-preservation too, but Mularkey being unwilling to do the same where Robiskie was concerned is part of what got him fired. They still believe in Callahan though. If they didn't he'd be gone. We'll have to trust they know more about what's best for the team behind the scenes than outsiders do. @OILERMAN @IsntLifeFunny @rns90 rns90, Justafan, Pragidealist, and 6 others 3 5
cenj
Pretty interesting they went wit Harde 15 minutes ago, OILERMAN said: Callahan is essentially fired and they're going to let him ride it out. That's significant. It's not Holtz (who it should be if he was a real OC). And the fact it's not McCoy tells me that if Callahan continues messing up and they feel like they can't ride out the full season with them, McCoy could end up the interim instead. But three games in with your rookie QB when you were hired to be the offensive mind, after Borgonzi/Brinker preached patience and realistic expectations all offseason? That's not patience. I'm sure they'd prefer to let him finish the season, as firing him now looks bad on everyone and it doesn't attract future HC candidates. But the dude is dead in the water.
