Jamalisms
https://x.com/Schultz_Report/status/1878219389104775238 Sources: The #Patriots and Mike Vrabel have been negotiating a deal to make him the franchise’s next head coach, and barring something unforeseen, the expectation remains that both sides will reach an agreement. (The @BostonGlobe’s @nicolecyang has also been on this story.) Supernope

Jamalisms
The Titans ended up even worse without him and that's despite many feeling that the roster improved. The defense was arguably worse but the offense didn't really get better and that's ... a surprise. The Titans were the worst team in the NFL this year and (whether or not you believe teams were really interested in Vrabel last year) the way things unfolded in Tennessee, his stature seems to have grown again. Add in the fact that the Patriots have a likely bias towards him and it looks like this truly was always his job from the moment they, probably unjustly, fired Mayo (some people have been arguing otherwise for some time now). There's a lot to be said for the failings of his tenure as the roster quality dissipated but as this year proves, he was probably at least in parts scapegoated as if he was the full and real problem and everything would get better without him. It'll be interesting to see what he learned from his first time as a head coach and how his success proceeds from here. More than that, it will be interesting to see how the Titans franchise fares compared to the Patriots and compared to Mike Vrable. As of right now, it would seem the majority of the NFL world truly does think that he was wronged and the Titans were wrong and our franchise has egg on their face. If Vrabel struggles again or the Titans take off from here, that'll have to be reassessed. Here's hoping it happens. Number9
Vrabel is a real NFL football coach. We had him, but we got conflicted. Edited January 12, 2025 by Number9 9 Nines, and FireInTheHole 1
Mythos27
@oldschool see how quickly that happened? Vrabel being available was clearly a factor. Jamalisms, and VaTitan
OzTitan
The Pats success will mostly come down to how good Maye ends up being. Vrabel will be probably good enough to keep the job for a while either way. The Titans offense not getting better is disappointing but most of that disappointment lies at the feet of Levis. Whatever momentum he had after his rookie season was lost quickly. It's tempting to blame coaching around him but I think it's probably more a case of NFL defenses adjusting and him just not actually being as good as some of the highlights from 2023 suggested, of which there really weren't that many anyway. Mythos27
Good for Vrabel and good for NE. I believe he'll be successful there. I've never believed he was a bad coach and I think that the last year has shown just how bad the situation here was. Turns out that the shitty 6-11 record was actually way more impressive than it looked. We should've gone win-less. VaTitan

Number9
By 'real' I mean he understands the NFL game. 1st qtr 4th qtr. He understands his talent and he understands the opponent's talent. He understands how to use his resources. So many posters thrashed the man from the day he came until he left. He never could do enough. Now the same ones who were happy as @BudsOilers in Boy's Town when he got fired will see maybe it may have been smart to rebuild with him. Especially since he was the winningest HC in Titans history. Is he the future Bill B? Who could predict that? I will say he will be considered one of the top coaches in the NFL after two seasons. Our leaders are failing us. They convinced the majority of our posters to piss on the man. Bum. Dumb. Meatheads don't walk from a team with a losing record to a storied franchise unless the people in charge have the good sense to recognize he just didn't have the horses here. I bet he gets an OC and has a backup when teams grab his this time. Sorry sounding unintelligent and making another unreadable post. I doesn't have spell/grammar check on my Commodore.
