Pretty sure Thurman Thomas lined up all over the place, but it's hard to remember. I was pretty young back then and didn't watch football the same way I do now. Peyton I have no idea - his heyday is before my time. I just know that both of them were good in the passing game.

I was just curious and also trying to make sure goalposts aren't moving to fit agendas.  Saying that "this" is the standard to being a good receiving RB but not holding to it for all RBs is disingenuous.

No idea where this nugget fits so thought it might worth starting a thread for all Titans non HC offseason discussion.   This was meant to happen last offseason but Sweat never showed up so

Who will we draft? The answer has been there the whole time.

That’s a lot of hooch

Was the Thurmanator and W. Peyton ever used lined up wide?  Were offenses in the 80s and 90s really thinking like that?

Thomas was deadly on the swing pass if I remember correctly. yup, I was off, Thomas was a legit threat down the sidelines.

Are swing passes considered a valid contribution to the passing game for a RB?

If CJ caught too many swing passes, they probably don't count.

I’ve heard it all now. Jeff Fisher got CJ to the 7th most yards in a season all time and Derrick Mason to the second most all purpose yards of all time but is also apparently a moron who couldn’t figure out how best to use his players.

Despite what is written here in this thread , Fisher knew how to use players on offense here, he just was conservative in terms of game management etc.

Like I said, you could use him on screens and sometimes he could sneak out to the flat or something like that and if you could get him the ball in the open field he was deadly.

He wasn’t lining up out wide, running routes, and making contested catches or anything like that though.

He actually lined up wide a few times. He had that play where he motioned outside and no1 covered him, he also has a go route where he caught a great over the shoulder ball on the sideline.

Wasn't a usual thing but he could.
