Im curious what he can do with more opportunities. His rookie year he was on pace for a helm like season before he got hurt. Missed half a dozen games and came back strong. Then they drafted theo and he got relegated to the blocking tightend role.

Really surehanded guy, over 80% catch rate in his career and has never dropped more than 1 pass in a season. Not really a redzone target like most blocking guys are, does his work mostly on short to intermediate crossing routes and a few wheel and seam routes.

No idea where this nugget fits so thought it might worth starting a thread for all Titans non HC offseason discussion.   This was meant to happen last offseason but Sweat never showed up so

Who will we draft? The answer has been there the whole time.

It's entirely possible Chig didn't want to come back and they wanted him to be back.

It was mutual in my opinion. Chig knows Helm was his replacement and the team needed a Bellinger type for TE2. If he had stayed, he would get minimum reps unless Helm sucked or got injured. Its smart for him to move on.

I can guarantee you the happiest person with the defensive improvements is Cam Ward. You’ve seen me post before that during his year at Miami it was historically bad defense and if they had the defense from this past year and Ward they would have won it all.

A strong run game and strong defense is a young QB’s best friend.

This is stupid.  If you draft and develop well, it leads to you being good, therefore a 'symtpom' of being good.  It is nearly impossible to be good without drafting well and developing talent.

Of course, but you have to have stability in order to get there. You can't stabilize a franchise by bombing out every year. Then the GM and coach just get fired and you start all over.

"For Cam, the best way to develop a quarterback is to give him a team that doesn't make him feel like he has to be Superman, at least early on," Saleh said. "There is going to be a time as Cam continues to develop where he can put this entire organization on his shoulders, and lead it to a win. But asking that of a young kid I think is unrealistic. So, building a structure for him that doesn't ask him to be Superman 60 plays a game will be at the front of our minds.

"(We have to) make sure that we support him with the proper defense, the proper run game."

From Saleh about Ward. Defense still needs edge rush, but even if they made no other moves, it should be a big improvement from last year. They still haven't addressed the run game or IOL. I think Love is the favorite at 4.

Reality is the offense is still a multi-year rebuild. Even if they sign Doubs/Jennings and draft Love, still got some work to do. It'll probably take another draft class and FA wave. Going to need draft a WR1 eventually and Dan Moore is far from ideal at LT. They have to improve this year, but I wouldn't expect a quantum leap to a top 5 offense in year 2. They're still missing a few notable pieces.

I'm not stressing about interior OL, they are dime a dozen compared to other positions. LT is a low key big need in the not so far future. Hopefully we strike gold and find a gem there in the middle rounds.

What makes me positive is we actually have an offensive system, that relies heavily on the running game, with bigger TEs, outside zone runs, RPOs, motion. With that said Spears does not fit, Pollard can play in this offense but he's no threat taking it to the house running or passing. He can be a solid backup but he's expensive. Love will take a lot of pressure off of Cam more than any other pick to me. He can offer more in the passing game than any RB I can think of. He's not just a RB, he's a dynamic playmaker.
