I think he’s not getting enough credit for his throws. Arm strength, accuracy and ball placement all looked excellent from the broadcast view. Didn’t make any bone headed throws or try to play hero ball in a very frustrating game.

 

The sacks were bad but in the scope of everything I’ll give him a pass on those and see if he learns from it.

Problem is, we saw some of the same coaching issues last year. All the more important that young players receive good coaching.

Losing due to lack of playing talent is one thing but when the HC also throws in poor situational awareness and operational issues on the side of the ball he is responsible for that is another thing.

 

It is important to remember that was week 1 in a hostile environment. Where Callahan will get himself into job security issues is if we keep seeing the same issues occurring in the second half of the season.

 

I said it multiple times yesterday; Callahan showed growth managing the game and in situational paly calling as the year went on even with a total scrub at QB in levis and a weak offense. He threw all of that away yesterday. The sequence before the half is as bad as you will see from an NFL HC. Then the self own of him claiming you need more than one elbow down on a catch... crazy stuff that just adds to the narrative he's not HC material.  Hard to defend right now.

anyone have the personnel grouping and player snap count info yet? I'd love to know how much 12 they ran and why Lockett didn't seem to play that much.
