I think people who aren't sure what they're seeing read about Latham's issues with speed and misconstrued the concerns. You're not going to find much evidence of Latham losing to speed in college mainly because the guy didn't lose often at all. That's why he's such a highly graded prospect. Where the concern actually is, is that while he was quick/athletic enough in college to prevent losses, to the eye it looks like he might not be quick enough to do this at the next level with the absolute speed freaks he'll find there. The concerns are purely projection based, not evidence based. That said, he's all about to get all-time coaching and "slower" guys than him have had plenty of success in the NFL.

No of course. I’m just waiting for someone to not talk out of their ass and give me examples because I think it’s funny lol

The left side of the OL could be dominant

You guys remember when we took the most pro-ready offensive lineman from Alabama with a HOF o-line coach on the staff in 2013?   That was fun.

That is a horrible message to send to the fan base that your top 10 pick may fail at the position you hope he plays.

Allen and Anderson are tough matchups for anyone. Definitely will be a test for him, especially as a rookie.

Good thing though, is one of Anderson's weakness is with power tackles. Darnell Wright gave him hell. If Latham gets his hands on him, rep over so it's a matter of whether Latham will have the mirror to keep those guys from beating him with their first step.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Darnell Wright absolutely bitched Will Anderson around that entire game. Latham should be good. Your analysis of Latham being where speed to power rushers go to die is spot on.

Yeah, it was kinda crigey yesterday watching people post clips where Latham supposedly looked horrible but he either looked fine or the fuck up wasn't on him. Any concerns should be centered around his traits as an athlete rather than his actual production.

Light on his feet. Best run blocker in the draft. Underrated as a pass blocker.

From two of the best in the business.

I watched the Pat McAfee live stream for Bill Belichick's analysis of JC. He really raved about him. Says he will have no problem playing on the left side.

Starting 1:35

But I was told BB hated him! LOL.

The thing about Latham is that seemingly every football guy reacting from Bill B to Martz to Cally Sr likes the guy.

They like that he dominated in the SEC, they like his build, etc. Our biggest weaknesses heading into the off-season were line, WR, and CB.

And we added Ridley, Latham, and Sneed. Could any of us asked for more?

I'm feeling pretty good headed into tonight.

Right now I wish we had resigned Autry and am feeling iffy about our front 7 depth. If we could get an overpay to trade down in the second and snag a third that might be helpful. A lot of guys could help this team.

I am always a homer until proven otherwise, and will do that here. Ran the man, I trust you.

Latham will be better than Alt in 5 years. Malik Nabors will demand a trade from the hapless Giants. Rome Odunze is such a nice person he will have a revelation that football is a brutal, barbarian sport and retire at the age of 25, going on to become a world class poet.

Marcus Whitman hates the pick. He said his weakness is change of direction and believes it’s a physical deficiency that can’t be coached. Said he’s good at stopping a speed rush around the edge but gets rinsed by inside moves because he just Dosent have that quickness in change of direction.

He did say that he’s a know nothing and Bill C knows more.

Also added Cushenberry at Center which is a huge upgrade.

The more I watch on Latham the more I think he can be great as long as Callahan can get his footwork faster. that’s the only issue with his game imo

I think it helps a lot that we don't have many bendy/crazy twitchy edge rushers in the division. Aside from I think Josh Allen in Jacksonville there aren't really any guys that I think create a bad match-up for Latham. In fact, I feel like there are less of those really twitchy/bendy edge rushers in the league than there used to be. The other guy that is a tough match up on paper is Will Anderson from the Texans but given they are both BAMA guys, I could see Latham being real familiar with him,

Both Josh Allen and Will Anderson primarily rush from the left side.

This idea that there's a huge gulf between RT and LT it outdated by about 10 years. Half of the top 10 sack leaders from last year primarily rush from the left side. The bottom line is your RT better have the same athletic ability as your LT or the QB is likely going to get hit a lot regardless of who's at LT.

But titans report keeps telling me he cant even touch speed rushers! His tape is full of him with molasses feet! How is this possible?!

Have you seen who the two guys were that got past Latham?  Would like to find out, or maybe he got beat on a stunt or something.  Still kick ass stats, but would be interesting to know.

Edit:  I found one of them.  Michigan game, but he was overwhelmed by 2 guys rushing on that one and didn't know which to block.  Timestamped to that play...
