Last year the Titans had Dillard at LT, Brewer at center, NWI as the #2 WR(2nd in targets) and yes a one dimensional aging RB(he had 2 20+ yard runs going into the finale). 

 

They added Latham at LT, signed Cushenberry, signed Ridley and upgraded Henry with two explosive every down RBs in Spears/Pollard. 

 

They have vastly upgraded their weakest offensive positions from last season already.

This isn’t 2008. The highest paid lineman in the league is now a RT. 5 of the top ten OTs by AAV are RTs. If you have the best LT in the league and a shit RT, defenses exploit that, and you may as well have zero good OTs. 

 

It’s 2024. RBs and ILBs are almost ignored across the league. WR is viewed as potentially the most valuable non-QB position and is at worst neck and neck with OT and EDGE for that title. And RT is just as valuable as LT. 

 

LT is historically the “sexier” position, but the numbers don’t lie. Getting a long term answer at RT is a massive win if that’s what Latham ends up being. 

 

So much wrong with this post don't know where to begin.

Watched cutups from 3 games and liked a lot of what I saw. Has decent feet, squares up really well and once he legally engages with his hands, it's over. If he can improve his footwork and keep his playing strength where it's at he could be a stud. He probably will draw a holding penalty or 2 but didn't see anything blatant, they are allowed to latch on inside and he's strong enough and has good  enough hands that didn't seem to have to go outside the frame much which is what gets called. He did really manhandle some pretty stout SEC dudes.

While the skillset required between LT/RT is lesser these days, the draft value of LTs and the difficulty in finding them is still much higher, so it's not good if he plays RT

 

Also, as the smart posters said, it was beyond obvious they were taking an LT, the talk of a WR was dumb

 

Odunze made it to 9 as WR3. I do wonder if Nabers would have been the pick had he made it past the Giants. We'll never know.

Latham better work out because there are reports out there from reputable reporters that there were a heap of teams trying to trade up for Penix and Odunze which likely confirms what Carthon said that he had plenty of interest/offers on the table that he turned down to select Latham.

I feel better after sleeping on it too. I’m still concerned that he doesn’t have the foot quickness to play LT but we just have to trust in Callahan developing him.

We won't but I posted weeks ago that it's often obvious what a team will do leading up to the draft but natural discourse takes over to fill the void

 

They went in to the draft having addressed WR and not OT. Russini said they would be coming out with an OT, it was always by far the most likely solution

Not to mention that Latham's name only really started being heavily linked to the Titans in the last few days, which frequently happens here.  Before that it was entirely Alt or WR.
