Maybe they have the inside track on someone they really want to bring in or maybe they're tired of the run first mentality and feel the need to make a change?

I guess we're about to see what a team built by Mike Vrabel looks like. My guess is it will look very similar to the JRob teams, and they're just hoping someone else can pick better players.

Vrabel gaining more personnel control is not a good thing - regardless of who the new GM is - I promise you that.

Vrabel's comment "who is he going to throw it to?" about the receivers/Malik is a little more cryptic now.    I loved Jrob, but I love AAS more. She ain't fucking around. Ya love to see it.

This type of move usually means something nefarious has come out. I’d be shocked if there is another justification.

And let me add to this….this type of move at this time of the season and not waiting until January is what makes it seem nefarious. Pure speculation on my part, but I’m betting this has something to do with AJ Brown

All the narrative for years has been they were in lock step on every decision. I think that’s pretty obviously wrong now

The question is, if Vrabel does get more power, does he double down on building an archaic offense?

He did want Ryan Day, so I don't think so.

I think this is about the failure to go from "good to great" tbh. The team has stagnated at good. JRob's all in moves all failed and he has had critical failures in areas that are supposed to be foundational to the team (OL).

It's still a shock, especially midseason.

Vrabel won the power struggle here like JRob won it over Mularkey. The expectations are high here, you can't say they're not swinging for the fences.

You have to wonder (and maybe worry?) if Vrabel gets more control over the GM level decisions. That doesn't always work out...

There is no evidence yet of a power struggle.  Could very well be that a new GM will be tasked with forcing Vrabel to update the offense.

Honestly I'm pretty disgusted, it reeks of desperation, and is a big blow in the middle of a season you're trying to compete for a championship.

It's like throwing the captain of the ship overboard at the first sign of a storm. This is the guy that brought all these players together, and he just got his head chopped off. I can hear Vrabel now, "The Titans are a family!" That'll rally the troops next week.

I guess the Bud gene was bound to come out eventually.

Which is just shocking considering how much it seemed like those 2 were in lock-step with each other the whole way.

I really think the AJ situation is what tipped everything over the edge though.

Agreed
