He's not AJB, but no reason to not think he can put up #1 numbers.  On a play like today, he doesn't have the experience or rep to get the flag.  I see him making big catches by snatching balls, but mostly by the cbs being out of position.

Just checking back in. Did we figure out if looking like trash and making bonehead mistakes in the preseason is because the starters aren't trying or because it's all vanilla or because they just all suck?

I'll take #3.5.  They suck because they don't have talent.  Yes, we have The Man.  Young everything.  HC OC DC Staff WRs 4th rounders/R/V  TE*  The Titans are who-dat.  Players(w/potential) that are playing their 2nd ps game.

 

I know I will be screaming Saleh Sashit before its over, but I have a feeling.

Here's something I dug up last year when talking about Firkser.  Since 1978 here are the only WRs/TEs who have caught at least 75% of their targets with at least 150 yargets.  This was relatively late in the season so maybe he's gone under 75% but the point remains:

 

Firkser was one of my favorite role players for those teams. I remember when he had a few pretty big catches to keep drives going I looked him up & he was just a pretty terrible athlete, at least in the combine activities. He was built like a FB & ran close to a 4.9 40. All the other drills were equally bad. But he clearly knew how to get open. Of course the defense didbt focus on him but still, MM & then Tannehill felt comfortable throwing him the ball on 3rd down. He was a guy that if just a few inches taller & a bit more athletic really could’ve been a very good player. 
 

He actually started 4 games for Detroit last year. I hope he sticks for a few more years. I always liked him.

 

MyCole Pruitt was also a pretty good TE for us back then. He was like the blocking version of Firkser, he sprung a bunch of good Henry runs.

The outcome of the game is meaningless and not predictive.  We all know that. That doesn't mean we can't tell that Deculus is terrible in pass protection and Barton is poor in coverage.  The coaches evaluate individual performances in preseason games and in some cases those evaluations are used to make roster decisions and bottom of the roster guys know that.

Exactly. It's simple when you're not trying to cope by convincing yourself nothing matters.

Which is the perfect example of being careful about these games. Barton would never be asked to cover in man coverage in that situation. He may not even be in the game in that sub package. 

 

Did the Seahawks game plan their back-ups more like a real game in order to prepare them for a real game situation? Possibly, who knows.

The starters not trying is my favorite. Cause this team is say the 2017 Belichick/Brady Pats & is just fine tuning some things before Opening Day. JFC.

First of all the Titans are a 3-14 team, they have a new staff and a lot of new starters. It's not a news flash they aren't good. 

 

But I do believe Saleh about not scheming, no motion, basic splits etc....The defense was lining up straight without game planning, stunts, fronts and complex coverages. 

 

Cam Ward and the entire team are in the early stages of growth. 

 

Vegas has the Titans win total at 6.5

It’s PSG2 and I’m already sick of the hot take artists. I wish there was no economy for hot takes. People wouldn’t put them out into the world if they didn’t generate $$$. 
 

Ward looked fine. He and 2 bad plays: the fumble and the ball he sailed over Tate in the middle of the field.
