What we all predicted lol

What a coward, doesn’t she know Jamal knows she’s innocent?

Her playing the victim and blaming the media is pitiful. She did this all herself   It sounds like the investigation uncovered more proof about them being guilty, which led to her resigning.

Sure, but that wasn't the point being made. People were trying to insinuate that she was a poor reporter being taken advantage of by the mean male millionaire and that the power dynamics played a role, casting her as a victim in a way.

I'm pretty wary of potential power dynamics issues and unless there is a very specific set of circumstances I just don't see how that could apply in this case.

As an attorney by trade he has been exceedingly cautious in his takes regarding this case. He's had to rein Chris Simms in a few times when he's gotten a little to close to speculation.

Fuckin lawyers.

Amirite, @abenjami? @Legaltitan?

LOL, Florio is a proper lawyer and was doing Simms a solid by managing risks, specifically defamation related risk. Russini has lawyered up, so some of these guys need to be careful with their commentary.

It feels very paper tiger... if they went to discovery she'd get destroyed. Unless she's completely innocent (LOL!!!), the last thing she wants is to actually go to court. I guess, she could nitpick every part of what every person says to try and win some defamation money, but whenever there's a case, she'd get made fun of publicly and have to relive the embarrassment all over again.  Would appear pathetic in the public eye.

Her only recourse is to say they are in love or that she was an addict.

If there’s an investigation and it reveals Vrabel was leaking false information to a reporter he was sleeping with in order to manipulate other teams and players then he absolutely should see punishment from the NFL.

Because it would be explicit, identifiable and proven in that case, yes.

But we're all on the same page that teams leak to and manipulate media reports all the time, right?

I'm not gonna dogpile Jamal...mostly because I think he's kinda into that for some reason.

But I do think people are dogpiling Russ...wait, that sounds bad. I think people are being hard on her...damnit. Trying to do this without puns. I think we should all be careful not to let cultural sexism paint this woman (like Vrabel did...). Shit.

Ok, but seriously, they both deserve to be treated like the assholes they are for doing this, and even though it will ruin her career and not his, due to the nature of their respective roles, Vrabel is still a bad person for doing this. That meathead will be (and should be) razzed about this for the rest of his career.

fwiw, I was not anti Russini “inadvertently falling in love” with someone she covered until: 1) more of her history surfaced, 2) she was plainly writing/opining on Vrabel’s behalf. That adds up to some narcissistic, manipulative, “I’m getting over on errybawdy and gettin paid”, bullshit behavior. Fuck that shit.

Also, when several posters were insinuating Russini was humping Vrabel years ago, I ignored it thinking they were just slagging on the woman without real evidence. So in a sense, there is a betrayal to the people who tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. When people turn out to be frauds who potentially fuck up trust for a broader group, then yes they deserve the extra animosity, imo.

NFL reporter Crissy Froyd, who covers the league for USA TODAY SMG, called out Russini on social media.

She's celebrating her departure.

"It does no benefit to her to admit anything close to the truth. Why would she? She gains nothing. Part of me almost feels bad for her — she’s in her 40s and I think wanted to be good and ethical from the start. But she’s not been for years on end. You make your own bed…" Froyd shared.

"I will be so real here. Relationships with players and coaches and reporters isn’t really troubling to me. Giving something up for info is as an exchange is wrong. Build your career on your own integrity. I don’t support her at all," she added.
