It’s easier than ever to play qb and the qb/offense better hit a baseline level of competence otherwise you’re gone. And that takes the rookie qb struggle into play too. I’d guess all four of those qbs lead bottom 5 level offenses in the NFL that year.

I think if Strunk is the leading decision maker, he'd be the choice. She's known to be a fan of him and Schwartz both. The last time the team was good, both those guys were here. If Borgonzi or Brinker are the lead decision makers, it would lean toward someone else. However, Brinker/Borgonzi need to consider that in order to create organizational stability with this owner, the owner should be fully bought in so she doesn't just fire them in 3 years. Several of Arthur Smith's favored coaches are already on staff, and from what I gather - the OC choice for BOTH Nagy AND Smith would likely be Dave Ragone. Ragone's OL guy is Munchak (worked with Ragone / Rams as a consultant in recent years) And if the staff is fired in Cleveland, Schwartz could be available for DC under either of those guys. The thing is if you are drafting a QB #1 you have a horrible team to start with 2nd you are going to start a rookie QB on a horrible team from the start and it's going to make it even worse. Your team/you are probably real bad if you coach a team to the #1 pick. Rookie QBs rarely light it up and it (almost) always gets blamed on the coach. Also obvious, that she's the owner and doesn't have to give a shit what I think lol. She’s involved because you need to tell the owner what you’re doing. There’s no evidence she made the call or had any part in it besides blessing the decision. And if she did more than that, then she made the right decision lmao

Sure, but I guess the point is that's likely true of every team that takes a QB #1 overall Mythos27

I think they expected a struggle but not this bad (product on field). And there were a lot of self inflicted stuff from Callahan that had nothing to do with talent level (clock management, catch stuff etc) begooode, and Jamalisms

They likely did not anticipate his stubbornness on scheme. rns90, AvgJoe, and titanskick8851
