Callahan directly lost the game

Yes, the individual penalties are on the individual players. Callahan didn’t make Simmons give an extra shove or tell JBJ to grapple a WR on 3rd and long. The body of penalties though, hints at a coach not instilling discipline.

Hopefully they get better.

Does anyone have the 2 PI penalties. From what I remember, Sutton initiated contact on Brownlee and pushed off. That happened on 2 of the PI calls. It was clear as day.

Patience, That's not me saying it, that's the decision makers.    No doubt Callahan would redo some things today but he's not to blame for Pollard fumbling, the OL not being able to block th

We lost by 8 points and 10 points the other way are directly tied to his play calls. He decided to go PA shotgun from the 6 yard line with 48 seconds and then throw an incomplete pass stopping the clo

I'm pretty pissed that Callahan called for a Pollard fumble, 8 drops, and our Tackles to get beat like drums. Horrible game planning.

Also, I'm sitting here remembering the preseason and the lack of time Cam got. These guys really could have used it.

So it was just a combination of a bad game from Cally, and for all that absolutely did go our way on defense missing a bunch of close calls and having bad luck. That we were a couple of drops away from Ridley is mindboggling.

The thing is once Callahan called those dogshit passes the Broncos smelled blood. It let them back in the game.

Time will tell. This is basically his come to jesus moment--he needs to win and can't get embarrassed by the Rams.

Otherwise, I am kind of remembering the Grizz situation. Lame duck HC (Jenkins) with desirable assistant.

At some point, if Dennard Wilson can get this out of the defense, I would want to give him a chance. Especially if we look the same and come out playing such mistake laden and bad play calling football .

If callahan does anything other than say he mispoke, I refuse to believe he doesn't know the rule here, its a bad sign. also not challenging because the guys in the both said he was out or didn't see the elbow down is not a big deal. He relies on the watchers in the booth to let him know whether it worth challenging plays on the opposite sideline or others where the HC doesn't have a good view. Now if he was told the elbow as done and didn't challenge because he didn't know the rule, thats fireable offense imo.

I assume we'll hear from Callahan that he misspoke about the foot and that the booth told him that the elbow was out of bounds...

Sure, the officiating wasn't great, but the truth is he got away with some too. The Titans played reckless all day which is why they took a ton of penalties.

Defenses have been sniffing out the screens since Callahan has been here.  He seems to be incapable of catching defenses off-guard.

The broncos got away with all of theirs. That game was not called evenly. That is a fact.

Edit: Officiating is not the sole reason we lost this game, but it played a part.

I don't like to bitch about refs, but at one point they got away with 3 straight PIs.

The penalties are on the players not the coaches, imo.  The WR drops are also on the players.

The problem I have with this statement regarding penalties is that the coaches preached the avoidance of "Self Inflicted Negatives" (SINs) the entire offseason.  Then Game 1 rolls around and there are more penalty yards than offensive yards, and there are play calls that directly lead to lost scoring opportunities or scoring opportunities given to the opponent.

When you publicly state that your are going to eliminate one specific thing in the offseason, and then that one specific thing directly contributes to an L in game 1 that is one the coaches.  It just is.

I think some of the excuses for Callahan are valid.  The ones last year certainly were.  Not knowing the rule book and the sequence at the end of the half is not valid and the first time I've really questioned whether he should be the guy.  Is this the man who they want leading them into the new stadium?

It's so hard to even write it because I hate advocating for people who work their tails off to not keep their jobs.  And he's so likeable.

It's a results based business.  And right now the results aren't there.  And there's too many red flags to just keep writing it off as the team has no talent.

You think Simmons shove was the coaches fault?

This is right. Reo said it to me during the game and its spot on. We go in cycles. New qb and everyone loves him- blame the coach.  Then new coach and its time to blame the qb.  We go back nd forth and through these cycles.  We're in blame the coach cycle right now.  BC is going to get all the heat this year bc the Titans aren't really that talented.   They have the bones and their defense is underrated but they still have a year to really be competitive but fans will now blame him for every loss.

But he gets paid crazy money for it.. so suck it up butter up.

Or our dumbass coach doesn’t know one or the most fundamental rules (when a player is in bounds or not) and is rightly being flame for it. That on top of his horrible situational play calling.
