  1. This was absolutely a factor, and those that think this was a one sided deal are delusional. This was not a firing like a vast majority of these decisions in the NFL. It started with the AJ Brown trade. Vrabel wasn't happy there, and it shouldn't have happened if he didn't sign off on it. From there things went off the rails and it reached the point it did. He wanted control and we wouldn't give it to him. Better roster decisions keeps Vrabel here and we probably win more. I also think he wanted us to try to get Stroud (I believe we did) and he would have stayed. At the end of the day, no coach can win without talent. And it has to be the right fit in the right context. Vrabel is that in New England and he wasn't at the end here for a variety of reasons.
  2. Let's hope some of these GMs start to Simp for Simpson. I think Browns are going to fire Andew Barry. New GM won't be committed to Gabriel or franchise savior benchwarmer. Would love to see something like: Browns send 4 + 19 + 38 + 27 First. We send 1 overall.
  3. This is why I am really hoping we end up with #1 overall and we can use the Moore trade as a framework. Several teams that might want to trade up could have a WR they'd be willing to part with to get a QB. Dolphins and Waddle, Jets and Wilson, Saints and Olave, less intriguing but Browns and Jeudy and Raiders and Tucker or Mayer as an option at TE.
  4. Using this as a model, and assuming we move on from Ridley and Sneed, a mock off-season could be... Free Agency: We have the most money to spend. In my hypothetical we pay four players--a true big spend, an overpay, a value impact player, and a washed reclamation (in order). Splash signings: Trey Hendrickson, EDGE, Bengals. Erick Stokes, CB, Raiders. Tyler Linderbaum, C, Ratbirds. Sign Mark Andrews as a veteran TE after moving on from Chig. The depth signings: Sign Jauan Jennings as a veteran WR option. Sign Reed Blakenship for safety depth. Bring back Pollard (believe it or not). Sign David Onyemata. Sign Cole Van Lanen. Bring back Levin. Sign Cole Strange (in this imaginary world, the Browns cut the former Moc and we sign him, just because I want a Moc on the team). Sign Lynch. Sign Robinson. Sign Restrepo, Oliver, Kinsey depending on what will cause you to have a nervous breakdown. In terms of the draft, the Jets end up picking behind the Dolphins and Saints, so make a seismic trade up with us similar to/in-between the Jags trade for Hunter and the Bears trade up for Williams. We get their 1st, the Colts 1st, and their second, and Garret Wilson for #1 overall. Trade Will THE THRILL Levis to Rams for a pick swap so he can be in LA and cast as the next Bachelor. Trade a pick swap to the Giants for famous Jameis Winston so someone with a personality is on the team. The draft: Starters = 1. Keldric Faulk, EDGE Auburn (from Jets) 1. Davison Igbinosun, CB Ohio State (originally Colts pick, from Jets) 2. Olaivavega Ioane, OG Penn State 2. Will Lee III, CB Texas A&M (from Jets) The rest = Demond Claiborne RB Wake Forest, Omar Cooper Jr. WR Indiana, Aiden Fisher LB Indiana, Drew Shelton, OT Penn State,Darrell Jackson DT Florida State, Wydett Williams Jr. S Ole Miss, Dominic Zvada K Michigan QB: Cam, Winston (2) WR: Wilson, Dike/Ayo, Jennings, Cooper, Polarizing untalented WR (6) LT: Moore, Shelton (2) LG: Skoronski, Slater (2) OC: Linderbaum, Levin (2) RG: Ioane, Van Lanen, Strange (3) RT: Latham, Ojuku (2) TE: Mandrews, Helm, Martin Robinson (3) RB: Spears/Pollard, Claiborne (3) Total: 25 DL: Simmons, Sweat, Onyemata, Lynch, Jackson (5) ED: Hendrikson, Faulk, Oledejo, Ward, Harrell (5) LB: Barton, Gray, Williams, Fisher (4) CB: Stokes, Igbinosun, Lee, Robinson, Baker, Harris (6) S: Hooker, Winston, Blakenship, Brooks, Williams (5) Total: 25 K: Svada P: Hekker LS: Cox (he tries to retire, but is blocked by thoughts and prayers) This isn't perfect and I don't really see us getting Trey. BUT we have the most money to spend and a QB on a rookie deal. We are in prime position for a trade like the Jets one I proposed. Adding someone like Wilson would be seismic. A Wilson + Jennings addition to compete with Dike and Ayo would solve WR. Add Andrews as a safety blanket and reclamation TE. Build depth. Get corner and EDGE in draft. Get Jameis Winston so the fans on this board can actually laugh, smile, and experience joy. Get a MOC and BLUE RAIDER for the homers to drool over. Retain Pollard and Spears and draft an upside RB so this team is unpredictable and annoying from a fantasy standpoint. Sign Cole Strange so we can buy the GOAT jersey combo "STRANGE 69". A realistic coach based on this scenario would be Kliff or Nagy.
  5. Very unlikely, unless Smith is a top three pick and we're in the 4-7 range (this is a possibility). This will be a multi-year rebuild. Our best case scenario is that we have #1 overall and a team like the Jets moves up for the #1 pick. A dream might be a package with multiple firsts that includes Wilson. Our offensive skill position is thread bare. We are in this position because we overly relied on under performing WR and unknowns. Ayo and Dike are solid but hardly ready. WR needs to be a target in FA or trade, multiple guys. O line we will need to hit in both the draft (depth) and FA. Same with defensive line and the secondary. I wouldn't mind signing a veteran at TE depending on who is available if we let Chig go (Andrews?).
  6. I don't understand wanting to trade Sweat. He's good value for this team. The Jones trade was the ideal type of trade we should be trying to go for and am so glad we executed it. Extra pick, plus chance for upside. Rental player who we were not likely going to bring back (but still could) and now have capitalized on it. As much as I didn't like the Brownlee trade, love this one.
  7. At this point, we should just let Chat GPT coach the team until the end of the season. Some team is going to do it. Ask Madden is already an upgrade. Will Levis can type fast enough.
  8. Really frustrating to watch. This was a very winnable game (yet another one this season). The opposing team gifted us a pick six. We had a huge return TD. And we just sold the bag with weird play calling. We have a fourth and goal and run the least inspiring run call I've ever seen. Just a team selling as hard as possible.
  9. I'm watching. Will use vague language. It was a gimmicky move for sure, but it had a good effect. I think it was a really clever use of a pilot, to completely establish expectations based on a trope (the stranger things/losers club gang of kids) and flip that on it's head. Overall, I do like the show. It is trying a bit too hard and I think could err on the side of more suspense building, subtle horror.
  10. Judge is incredible. He really doesn't get enough credit. The thing is, he absolutely has a legacy blocker in his way. He could hit 100 HRs in a season and it won't matter unless he wins one as a Yankee. Winning a series as a Yankee would absolutely boost his legacy--I am just not sure it happens with Yankee killer Hal on board. I like Judge enough I sort of found myself wanting him to get one.
  11. Yes, this is what I am hoping for too. There will also be a lot of pressure on the Browns, especially if Shadeur gets in there and looks awful--I like that they have the Jaguars pick. Our defense could be strong if we end up with a pass rusher in the draft, a pass rusher in free agency and a CB in the draft and a CB in free agency (assuming we punt Sneed into the sun). This is actually not implausible if a Jags trade happened. Of course, not sure the Free Agency landscape looks great despite our money. We'd have to unload a significant amount to get Trey Hendrickson.
  12. The McCreary trade makes more sense to me than the Brownlee trade. I will say it is going to get worse before it gets better. Hope beyond hope we get the #1 overall pick and someone offers a King's Ransom for a QB. Maybe the Browns end up somewhere in the top 5 and give us the Jags picks and other firsts. We need it so desperately. We'll probably be drafting Jeremiah Smith in 2027.
  13. Titans should hire Jim Bob Cooter. That's the kind of name that screams this franchise.
  14. I agree with this to an extent, but do believe coaching and player development plays a role. It is not one factor, but a variety of factors. You cannot isolate some of these effects--we need to treat the whole ecosystem. The Lions only got better because they acquired talent over years of good drafting and then brining in the right organizational fit. The same is true for teams like the Rams. We can make that happen, and getting the coaching hire right helps. But you are 100% correct in that the talent gap is a massive issue. And the way we are handling and managing talent is putting us on an unsustainable path.
