I'm pretty pissed that Callahan called for a Pollard fumble, 8 drops, and our Tackles to get beat like drums. Horrible game planning.

Idk how that can be your take away from what I said. He was bad in this game overall. Hard to deny that. I’m talking about the people calling for his job after week 1 on the road in Denver against that defense with a rookie quarterback.

You don’t need my approval if you wanna write him off already.

Fair enough. Maybe I read too much into the comment. My bad.

But what exactly is the user error you're referring to? I'm watching guys lose their one on one match ups. For example; what exactly should to coaches have done to prevent Latham from nearly giving up a safety on the goal line by not even getting a finger on the rusher? Seriously, where did the coaches mess that one up?

Another example of player degradation once they become Titans - Dan Moore actually played quite well against Denver last year, allowing only 1 pressure .  Why did he do so much worse yesterday and allow 7 pressures?  Why does every offensive player who joins the team suddenly blow balls?

You'd think having a hall of fame OL coaching him he'd do better....

I can't imagine how embarrassing this is for him.  You have to feel for him.  He's a nice guy and puts the effort in.  And he's going to get raked over the coals this week more than at any point last year.

I don't feel bad for a guy making millions of dollars not knowing the rule to the sport he's coaching. That is a fireable offense.

I get it.  But there's more to it than money.  He seems like a good guy and this is highly embarrassing for him.  I don't want to see that.

I think PK did push him on that a bit and he just kinda repeated himself, taking the blame, so it's a possibility he was being a shield for his guys. But he could also just be FOS like rns90 said.

I'm not chucking the dude over this one thing, though. There were plenty of other things to criticize him on, deservedly so, but everyone's focusing most on this. It's all worth zeroing in on and questioning him about.

At the end of the day, they didn't play an entire 17-game season yesterday. They just played the first game. It's all a big sour noteworthy red flag, but it's still just one game. If we come out and run roughshod over the Rams next week half of everyone ripping him today will be scobbing his knob this time next week.

So we'll see.

The reason it is being zeroed in on is because it is so cut and dry. You're a HC of a football organization worth billions. You're paid handsomely for the role. If you do not understand the rules of the game you're coaching that is a massive problem. This isn't some obscure rule either. This is a fundamental rule of how possession in the NFL works. There's no grey area here.

I don't want to see it because I pay money to go to games and support this organization. I couldn't care less about him being a good person when it comes to this kind of thing. I'm not even trying to be a dick about it because I also like the guy, but this is beyond the pale not to understand the basic function of possession in the NFL.

Agreed.  You saw my responses.  I'm annoyed and questioning whether he should be the guy.

It makes me call into question everything about the guy when it comes to football. I'm not enjoying this just because I said we should clean house in the offseason. I was truly excited to see the opener and now I'm just hoping we don't fuck up Ward.

I still wouldn't have fired him at the end of last year.  I don't think he got a fair shot.  This year he's getting a fair shot.  If this continues he's going to be the fall guy.

I really hope he turns it around.  It would benefit everyone is he does.

Am I optimistic?  After yesterday, no.

I was fine with keeping him on, but that seems to be a rather big mistake. Hopefully he is really good with Ward when it comes to the basics of being an NFL QB. Ward looked good out there and that was a plus, so there's that much going for him, but it isn't enough to keep him from being fired. He's squarely on the hot seat and if this goes sideways I'd fire him before the bye week and make Wilson the interim.

I think it’s sad that one game in we are already talking about firing the head coach.  And it’s totally deserved.

I think he’s got a little rope. But his problem is that his evaluation (by the owner and GM) are almost entirely on the offensive side of the ball.  The defense could suck ass and it wouldn’t really affect his job status.

But a continually string of bad offensive performances on top of how much money they have spent there.  He’s not seeing year 3 unless there is tangible improvement throughout the year on offense.

Another thing.  It's not the wins and losses that are going to determine how I feel about Callahan.  If they lost a game yesterday the way the Jets did?  Disappointing but okay.  But to lose the way they did yesterday?  After all the talk this offseason about the changes in penalties, discipline, etc?  Just inexcusable.
