ShadowCreek
How coaches speak in press conference does not have much correlation with how he coaches during games. Belicheck was probably one of the worst press conference speakers. Number9

I do think that the offfense needs to show something and look a little better. They also need to look better . They don’t need to win because of the lowered expectations but they do need to look competent esp on offense. Just heard Troy Aikman make a comment that the vikings were making it a lot harder on McCarthy by not getting the play in quickly, so that as the play clock winds down, the D line can better guess when to go.. seems like a consideration for the Titans on a number of plays yesterday.. You don't hang around the NFL at corner if you're small AND slow lol. I think we're expecting too much of Brownlee. I think he'd be a great nickel but we already have a pretty good one. 100%, Finny had wheels. iirc, Jim Schwartz said by the second week of rookie camp everybody knew Finny could run with most anyone in the league and had the right attitude to be really good. He's not calling plays just for the fuck of it. If Belichick wanted to dazzle everyone with his football knowledge at pressers he could've but he hated the press lmao. Callahan knows what he's doing, unfortunately, knowing what you're doing doesn't guarantee success in this league.
IsntLifeFunny
I'm not entirely sure Callahan knows what he's doing at this point. Yesterday was rough. ChesterCopperpot1, DCTitan, Justafan, and 1 other

He took the heat for his staff, answered every question clearly and directly, and cleared up some of the questions I had of him. He did a good job explaining the thought process behind some of the more questionable possessions. I totally get if people ain't trying to hear all that right now from him but it made a lot of sense. He may eventually fail but man does he sound the part. He's going to be fine imo. He'll get a lot of heat this year but that's just where we are. He's going to get blamed for every loss and this was one the Titans were supposed to lose. IsntLifeFunny, and japan 1

No one is under the illusion this is a good roster. We lost directly because of him. That is not supposed to happen. OzTitan
fwiw, this not knowing the rules thing has some legs, it has the potential to be a meme from week 1 like Levis' funny single frame shots (who obviously kept compounding it week after week.... which you'd hope isn't the case here). It's definitely going to get outside the limited Titans-fan sphere. titanruss, and IsntLifeFunny 1

Mercalius
Not sure where to put this but as pedestrian as his stat line looked yesterday, I’m seriously getting fucking psyched the more I watch Cam’s play yesterday. I’ve seen a lot of the other plays dissected, but watch 2:04. This one stood out to me and probably won’t get talked about a lot but got me hyped rewatching it. 3rd and goal. Ends in a sack. Broncos fans goon out. Commentators spazz out over the sack. Lol Titans, right? But watch it closer. Cooper comes clean off the edge. Moore and Pollard attempt (poorly) to double Bonitto. If the double team on Bonitto doesn’t fail horribly, Cam escapes Cooper’s would-be sack and has a game of chicken towards the right side of the end zone with Helm potentially coming open. How does that play end had the double team not failed on Bonitto? Who knows. But it was close - damn close, to happening. Cam sensing Cooper - baiting the commitment, then planting/slipping out of his grasp opposite his momentum, and within a cunt-hair of freedom, unfortunately, Nik is there to finish it off. Regardless, that “spacial awareness” is something I’ve wished a Titans QB could do on the regular for forever. Again, a bad double team ruined a potential what if there, but there was a strong chance if Bonitto is tied up for even one second longer we have a legit shot at going up 10-3 near the end of the second. You can’t coach what was almost displayed there and with just a little bit better play around him, we’re gonna see some magic. Buckle up boys. OzTitan
Cam never looked out of his depth at all. It was obvious it was his first game in some ways, but he never seemed to struggle to know where to put the ball. I don't think you can really say he caused any of the issues other than the multiple sack series, although in his defense it was dumb AF to try and pick up 3rd and long with a deep drop back play. If there was a guy open in time though, I think he probably finds him, so maybe it was worth the gamble. Like, the play calling was obviously influenced by the fact it was his first game against a high end D for most of the game, but plays like that seemed to try and give him a chance to show something, even if it was ill advised. At the risk of sounding corny, he oozes wow-throw ability. If the OL doesn't get him killed, there will be highlights. Popular Post OILERMAN
Here is the problem. Callahan did not directly lose the game. Did he have a role? Sure. Callahan could have coasted into 2026 with little effort. Don't look incompetent and avoid disaster. After week 1, total fail. The HC spot is almost a figurehead or political position. All the fan talk about "play calling" and X's and O's are beyond comical. These teams all use mostly the same concepts and strategies. The guys who have a good QB and talent look smart and when they don't they look like idiots. Millions of examples, Arthur Smith looked like an idiot over his head until week 7 of 2019, then he was smart. Callahan's presser had a Ran Carthon look to it. It would have been super easy to talk his way out of everything that happened Sunday. The lack of ability to do that is as alarming as on the field issues. The Titans were already a bad team who was going to have to fight to win 6-7 games. The reason is because they have a rookie QB and a bad roster. But Callahan has managed to make it about whether he's capable of not. From here to the rest of the season every decision is going to be under a microscope. He took away the legit excuses they had for being a bad team. He's created an uphill battle to keep his job he didn't have to have. rns90, AvgJoe, Justafan, and 5 others 7
Popular Post titansfan
What's funny is the scrutiny hes getting now is very much self initiated. The easy and expected answer about the no challenge is and should have been "i didn't get the call from upstairs because we didn't have conclusive video evidence at that point ". Done-- scandal avoided. freakingeek, IsntLifeFunny, Justafan, and 2 others
