Vrabel gaining more personnel control is not a good thing - regardless of who the new GM is - I promise you that.

Vrabel's comment "who is he going to throw it to?" about the receivers/Malik is a little more cryptic now.    I loved Jrob, but I love AAS more. She ain't fucking around. Ya love to see it.

The hardest thing to do, and what separates good GMs from great ones, is when you finally make that step into being a 10-12 win team that fizzles out in the playoffs to becoming a 13-15 win team that is a legitimate contender.

JRobs homerun swings work well when you know that you're at rock bottom because you got a team led by Mettenberger, Sankey, and Kendall Wright.  But getting those two extra wins when you step into the threshold of being respectable is soooo hard for teams. Because at that point its about the talent. Close games come down to a couple of plays and those couple of plays are made by the team who has the better players.

He had a good start when he had high draft picks and plenty of cap space.  But once the team went from bad to good, the draft picks were lower and the cap space used up, he was completely unable to move the team from good to the next level.

We've been over this the past two offseasons. All GMs miss but Jrob's misses in the 1st and 2nd round during his tenure have been really bad only somewhat made up for by getting guys like Byard and Long later in the draft. The fact is Jrob wasted premium draft capital nearly every year and even on guys he hit on, they didn't get a 2nd contract here. I'll beat this drum until I die; Conklin is a perfect example. you move up into the top 10 to take a RT who will never play LT you better get more than 4 years out of him.

Conklin,

Davis

Jackson

Evans

Simmons

Wilson

Farley

Burks

Thats a pretty sad list of 1st rounders over 7 years.

This is definitely the most shocked I’ve been as a Titans fan

Yes, he has fucked up the last couple years but holy fuck, unprecedented for a good GM to be fired from a 7-5 team

During a winning season?

He is the one responsible for this O line that is an embarrassment to everyone.  We are a laughing stock.

Nobody disagrees with that, but the OL wasn't awful when Vrabel took over, and we were moving more toward a passing offense.  When Vrabel was hired, he promised NOT to run RBs into stacked boxes...remember?  Now he's more conservative than Mularkey.

I don't really mind the timing. If you want the guy out, get rid of him. Makes you really wonder if his plan for the offseason was to trade or let guys walk that Vrabel wanted to keep.
