Jonboy
Don’t waste any time wondering whether or not Marcus Mariota is a franchise quarterback. The answer doesn’t matter. Even if he is the Tennessee Titans’ best long-term option at what has been a problematic position for them, the 2018 season proved that he is clearly the AFC South’s third-best quarterback. So the more pressing issue is whether the Titans can be good enough if that’s the best they’re going to do at the NFL’s most important position. https://www.nashvillepost.com/sports/commentary/blog/21039656/there-is-no-good-answer-to-the-real-question-about-mariota Justafan

Number9
Excellent article. I think the next part of the problem becomes trying to sell fans on the idea the Titans are trying to win it all, keep starting Mariota.

BudsOilers
It's hard to argue against Boclair's point. Luck is ALOT better than Mariota and Watson is one of the best dual threat QB's in the game and certainly more productive tha Mariota. Playing 6 less games over the 2017/2018 seasons, Watson has produced 21 more touchdowns and 6 less interceptions Tyler Rose Fan, BaddKarma, enigma, and 1 other
TorontoTitan
We need to get Mariota back to the way he was playing during his most successful stretch in 2016. His ceiling is still pretty high IMO it's just becoming more unlikely he will ever reach it with every injury and setback
Stranger
It doesn't hurt that Watson has better weapons, but at this point, it is what it is. He's our best option who just happens to get hurt too often for him to meaningfully progress.
Number9
Boclair's article is a composite of comments posted here. I mentioned yesterday that keeping Mariota was a commitment to 8-8, 9-7 seasons and that he didn't have the game to compete against playoff QBs. I don't either. The dude is very talented and would easily be a top 5-10 WR on a team with a more stable QB situation. Crayola, and Number9
Starkiller
Mariota is the starting QB next season assuming he can grip a football. They aren’t going to give him a new contract before that. That’s all there really is to say in the short term. They will evaluate him and his future based on how he looks in 2019. People here always talk about Mariota not having time...but Watson was sacked 62 times (!) and hit 126 times, both the most in the league. He had that much pressure and still had big-time production. Our RB situation is probably better too. Number9, Downtown, TitanTez, and 5 others
