Chad Brinker steps down

I don't think Brinker did a bad job at all. He was a net positive. But I also don't think losing him is going to make much of a difference given his current responsibilities. He did a great job bringing in Borgonzi and I hope he finds a job doing what he wants to do.

Brinker lost power, he wasn't doing the parts of the job he was passionate about, Amy's nepo hire started hanging around too much and probably was being listened to too much, he got the org back on track as much as he could, and now he's leaving to do what he wants to do.

Yep. Who wouldn't? I think that was his plan all along. Just hired the wrong/right guy. No matter what, he was part of the fixing of things around here, even if he was part of the breaking too.

At some point, people should just say that they want it to be ok and so they're going to pretend it is. No amount of instability, whether due to bad hiring or bad luck or an owner's mercurial nature or just natural, inevitable turnover ... none of it can ever possibly be anything but a sign of progress because eventually we will be good again and when it happens it can only have been at the end of whatever road we're on that is leading us there.

 

Anyway, yet another change after so much past change still sliding past the car and isn't even in the rear view mirror yet ... it's not ideal. Even if the cause this time seems pretty normal.

 

(though that in-law taking over will absolutely get shit on even if the thing that created the opportunity for it is more innocuous)

There's a lot of people who overhyped past changes to say Amy mishandled every single firing/extension/promotion and now any time a front office/coaching move is made it's completely overblown and past narratives(even ones known to be false) are often cited or used to further those narratives. 

 

Did Amy botch some things? Yes. Was she a totally impulsive meddling owner irrationally firing people left and right? No. There is way more context required in each situation to fairly judge her. 

 

The current setup appears functional. TBD. Has she possibly learned lessons up to this point? Yes TBD.

As to Brinker himself, good point @TeamRamrod about the insurance contracts, and just the overall cap management. I will say it's pretty easy to have a lot of cap space when only have a couple of players that would start on any other team (and I was surprised to see teams with similar cap space but in way better position), but still.

This completely ignores the fact she’s changed a top leadership spot every year for several years and they’ve gone through multiple reorgs around them.
