That’s the thing . He’s honestly worse at game management than play calling.

For those that are arguing that he wasn’t hired for playcalling ability (despite not having done it), if that’s the case why didn’t he hire a better OC? It’s obvious they hired him because they thought he could build a modern offense and that means him calling the plays and not Holz.

Calling plays was part of his job duties.  So, yes, he was hired to call plays.  But not because he had experience at it.  There is a difference.

Callahan is essentially fired and they're going to let him ride it out.    This is exactly like Brinker taking over the GM duties Carthon's last season.    Callahan was hired to ca

This move...a non firing but stripping of authority....keeps AAS from being labeled impulsive again.

I think Brian is probably better at play-calling than game management, but that's like saying @Bongo59 is better at analyzing football than practicing medicine....he fucking sucks as both, but if you

My gusss is either Amy wanted him fired knowing how quick fingered she is and our FO said well before we do anything rash let’s try this. He’s a dead man walking I give it a few more weeks. Houston will definitely beat us despite their issues they’re still much better team on all 3 phases.

Amy getting quick fingered!  That's not what any of us deserve to imagine.

He was hired with the presumption he would be a capable play caller. It was a large, if not the main, reason he was hired

he was hired to develop a QB and design a modern offense. he wanted to call plays so they let him.

saying someone who has never called plays was "hired to call plays" is just dumb.

Like others have said, if you take away play calling and give someone else the game management duties he's just a cardboard cut out on the sidelines

I think it’s just arranging chairs on the deck of the Titanic to some extent.  That being said maybe Hardagee will actually be a good play caller and call the games with better flow.

Callahan has multiple issues just in terms of game management/motivating guys etc.

Let’s assume 5 is the magic number for him to be retained.  Outside of the Saints game, not sure I see many others that qualify as could be wins.  Maybe CLE but they’re not that awful as expected.

This is an assumption. He was hired to modernize the offense. If you think you in large part to call plays when they've never called plays... i don't know what to tell you. That's dumb as fuck. He was hired to groom a QB.

Calling plays was part of his expected duties when hired.  Is that better?

The problem is fans think the Titans offense stinks because of "play calling". Even if there is truth to this it's not close to the main problem.

The Titans have a rookie QB with the worst QBR in the league, 19.

The Titans OL is horrid(this is one areas that should get better)

The Titans have rookies at all the skill people

Ridley sucks/can't catch

The Titans can't run the ball

Like Oilerman said pages ago it’s semantics.

Doesn’t change the fact that him turning over the duties is not a positive for him and that his seat is fucking hot .

I can’t believe we gave this clown a five year contract. You’d think it would be three with optional years. Are we still paying Mularkey? we’re still on the hook for Robinson and Carthon. Are we still paying Vrabel or did they stop after he was hired?

That aside, yes it’s damning. He’s a dead man walking. Anyone painting this as positive for BC is lying to themselves.
