Callahan gives playcalling to Hardegree (QB Coach)

I don't think it's weird that Holtz lost out on the playcalling duties. Its weird that our playcalling HC and OC had never called plays before getting here.

The logical thing, when handing off playcalling duties during time of duress, is to let someone call plays that has done it before.

It is unusual but it's logical.

Callahan is essentially fired and they're going to let him ride it out.    This is exactly like Brinker taking over the GM duties Carthon's last season.    Callahan was hired to ca

This move...a non firing but stripping of authority....keeps AAS from being labeled impulsive again.

The funny thing is there wasn't an easier situation for Callahan to keep his job. They decision makers were publicly squashing expectations and talking about patience. He basically had a free pass. Al

Suppose things get a better on offense and they win a few games the remainder of the season and Ward improves.

Callahan is going to have to fire his best friend and promote Hardegree to OC this offseason to have any chance to keep his job in that scenario.

(Most likely though, Callahan will be fired)

He's done. There's no way you keep him on after this. You just literally took away what he was brought in to do.

Callahan isn't in trouble yet? What?

He's very much in trouble.

Not yet he's not. Or he'd have been fired instead of being given the chance to hand play calling duties to someone else and focus on more of the team. That's them saying they think he's capable but is too focused on the offense.

But if it doesn't get better, he'll be in trouble.

Then they'd have fired him. He was brought in to groom a QB, not specifically to call plays. He didn't even call plays in Cincy.

You have zero idea what they would do. What is known is that he just had his balls chopped out from him, forced by the FO, and can't even hand the plays to his hand chosen OC. Not in trouble lol.

lol " you have zero idea what they would do" and proceeds to make a general assumption on what they're doing.

if they wanted him gone, he'd be gone.

It's like you don't understand logic or words. Do you think he just handed up the duties?

I think they told him he's too focused on the offense and needs to step back and hand duties to someone else so he can focus on the whole team.

Yeah .  Guy gets hired on his ability to call plays .  He now has to hand that off to someone else.

Hard to spin that as anything positive .
