There's a reason beyond injury as to why he's playing on a 5th year option with zero talks about a new contract. It's the same reason they traded for a starting caliber QB to "push" him. At this point, Mariota has no excuses. The new backup gets four drives and has something to prove since he signed a one year "try out" contract in the hopes of becoming a starter again somewhere. There were 5 or 6 passes when he was being pressured and he stood in the pocket and made a play instead running. Marcus needs to take note of that.
