Why in the world would Peyton ever coach…. He makes way more with his broadcast and other business ventures than to spend the time required to coach. Stop pushing that idea around, it’ll never happen

Leggette looks stiff, I’m not sure he’s going to be good at the next level.

Kyle Phillips isn’t on the 2024 Roster and I’m not sure Hopkins is either. That whole group will be overhauled for the most part

Another nugget that wasn't really mentioned by the local media today was that Molden has done zero work as a slot CB so far during camp, we already knew he was working at safety but before today I think most assumed he was splitting time between the two positions but apparently that hasn't been the case so far.
Molden doesn’t have the athleticism to play nickel corner , even in his previous snaps it’s obvious they tried to make sure he watched up more as the big /3rd safety where he could be matched up vs a RB or TE. The few times he’s been isolated with any decent WR with any speed he’s been a complete liability in coverage. He’s never been a true nickel corner - was a bad pick and i think he’s another overrated board player that will not see a 2nd contract where as others are thinking he’s next in line post Byard life. I would put my money on him not getting a 2nd contract unless he really just is impossible to keep off the field as a full time safety which would be a surprise to all.

Just left practice, weather made it really sloppy and hard on the WRs. Mack and Ojukwu left hobbling. Pretty tough practice to evaluate anything but the DBs seemed to be in tight coverage everywhere the whole practice.
i noticed they kept Hopkins out of team drills today , probably because the weather

McMath is out, he’s got a chance at PS. I’d put Racey behind these:
hopkins
burks
moore
nwi
dowell
phillips
kearis jackson
reggie roberson
treshaun Harrison

I think Moore is the 4th WR. NWI could be in trouble.
I think he’s the 3. People are overhyping Phillips. Sure he’s got quick feet , but he’s a late round pick with 8 career catches that struggled in his returner role.
moore was basically a 50 catch guy. I’m not saying Philips is in trouble but the staff will like Moore and NWI more for what we like to do offensively.

Essentially a 26 year old coming from a comparable to the air raid system - not going that high. He slides

Yes, he bought a house here for sure, but his primary residence is in FL.
It does change the situation. Paying him 14M AAV 9th as a S in the NFL is commensurate with his play, IMO. The cap hit is high, but unless we specifically need that money for something else, it doesn't matter. Add in that cutting him would only save 6M in cap space, and you'd need to sign a replacement. Post June 1 cut, and that money would push 8M dead cap into next year and funds wouldn't be available until June 1st.
He had a slightly worse year last year than in 2021, but still really good.
PFF has him ranked 6th in 22.
You must have missed where i said to cut hm this season ? No - i said he is a candidate to be offloaded - he could be traded, post June 1 released ($13.xM) or as i said the most likely scenario is that hat he will never see 2024 under current contract structure so it would be in his best interest to extend now and lower those cap hits

He isn't getting an AAV of $19 million that is just the cap number because JRob used Byard's contract as a credit card to push money into the future, his AAV is only $14.1 million which is 9th in the NFL for a safety.
You don’t think I know that? It doesn’t change the current situation. He’s not a $19M player and that is his # this year and essentially next year. He’s not a man cover guy and you shouldn’t pay any safety especially a guy that can’t take away someone $19M in a season. The NFL is a business- Byard is a great leader, a local, and a solid , very durable player- it doesn’t change the fact that he’s not worth $19M (esp at 30) regardless what contract restructuring he’s done. Andrew Adams off the street at S was just as effective as our 2 starters, we need to put that money into Edge/DL and CB on defense. Our cap has been poorly setup with inflated contracts at positions of interchangeable value. S, RB, ILB with Cunningham. You need to pay QBs,OT, Edge/DL , CBs and WRs

Sometimes I dont think you actually watch the Titans play... I think you just read some PFF articles.
Byard is pretty impactful for Tennessee and has very much kept together a young and inexperienced secondary. He covers a lot of mistakes and gets players in the right positions pre snaps... and still finds ways to make big plays.
Held together the last ranked pass defense in the league! Where he himself allowed a 65% catch rate and 600+ yards. The simple fact is he’s a safety, and he’s not an eraser at safety (very few are) which means they’re not worth $19M annually. The $7-10M he has played on is fine- $19M when up against the cap and he’s 30 is a different story. He either needs to restructure /extend or be traded. I would prefer him stick around but at his current contract he was never seeing the 2024 season so it wouldn’t be the worst idea to trade a year ahead if you are able to retain anything of value

It was essentially his rookie season , the league didn’t even have a lot of tape on him. It was the anomaly in his career for TD efficiency %- every other season he has been in the 5’s, that season he was at 9%. He’s never thrown for 3200 yards, and only 3k once and only 1 300 yard game- he’s one of the worst passers of the ball downfield and you have to run a specific scheme highly predicated on RPO/ QB runs. Is Lamar a dynamic athlete? YES, is he a good passer of the football and can play in any scheme? HELL NO. I want no part of him. Was nice for the ravens to have while on a rookie deal though- i still don’t think he’s scored more than 20 in a playoff game. Go ahead and eat all your salary cap away for him and see how far you get with a QB that can’t defeat you from the pocket and that will fade even more over time as his legs diminish

The sentiment on Quentin Johnson has quickly turned to where he's being underrated after previously being overrated. People are overthinking him. He's a 6'3 205 WR with elite explosive testing numbers that has proven to win at all three levels and plays one of the 4 most valuable positions. His knock is he doesn't have elite contested catch ability and his route running isn't perfect yet? He's absolutely worth a top 15 pick in the same way Broderick Jones or Lukas Van Ness are.
He doesn’t catch the ball with his hands, i cannot trust a WR that body catches

If Brock Bowers Blows Up the Combine...

There’s no value in drafting a TE that high, just like there’s not value in drafting a LG that high, so we probably will. We have needs at almost every premium position (OT,WR,CB,Edge and possibly even QB) we should focus on adding talent at premium positions in the top half of the first round. Skoronski may be a good player, stable G but that doesn’t change the trajectory of the franchise one bit. A QB does , and then protecting his blindsides , getting a threat outside, getting an edge rusher that can wreck a game can or a lock down corner to take away the opponents best player can.
