Titans Offseason Discussion Thread

Or you will draft someone who can stay healthy and won't drop the ball.  Bottom line... he's not worth his contact at this point.

But if you do want to spend the 20M, then give me R Shaheen over Ridley all day long

I know the cap is rising but will a FA WR really get 20M AAV, I’m not including Pickens which we won’t bid on.

Hollywood Brown has the same skillset but is younger, has a connection to the Chiefs , stayed healthy in 2025 and will cost less.

There are options (draft or FA) that can replicate what he does for way less and for longer.

No idea where this nugget fits so thought it might worth starting a thread for all Titans non HC offseason discussion.   This was meant to happen last offseason but Sweat never showed up so

Who will we draft? The answer has been there the whole time.

That’s a lot of hooch

It makes sense to keep Ridley for 1 more year unless they add a veteran to replace his starting spot on the roster. That could be a Z to replace him directly or a slot and move Dike to Z as a starter.

His contract ain’t cheap, but neither would his replacements be. And there aren’t exactly a lot of good free agent options.

Notice that none of the Ridley defenders have argued that he is worth his contract.  It's all about replacement.  I trust Borgonzi to do his job and put together a good WR room.  I don't trust Ridley to stay on the field and catch the ball.

We're going to draft a receiver regardless

The contract is big but it’s not out of line with the current market. Especially when it has minimal guaranteed money remaining as opposed to signing a veteran to replace him.

The only real question is whether they think he will be healthy and able to play at the same speed he had in the past.

Shaheed has never topped more than 59 rec 719 yards in a season. Expecting him to all of a sudden turn into a go to WR seems like a stretch. He’ll be way overpaid because of the postseason performance, but he’s never been a high volume WR and with Dike here he brings less ST value

And we can’t overlook the Daboll factor. He might want to keep Ridley as he was Ridley’s OC at Bama. He might want him in the offense.

Oh, that's a wrinkle. I didn't realize he had previously coached Ridley.

In Ridley’s last year at Alabama.

They may not have some deep connection. Or they may loathe each other. We only know there was that 1 year.

It'd be hard to complain if it did happen given the current cap space. It's not a long term fix, but a 3-4 year deal with plans to only keep him 2-3 would be a nice addition, even if he's past his prime. Good locker room addition as well for a young team.

I doubt it happens for multiple reasons, but it's a possibility I hadn't thought of before.
