He never called plays and came from a system with underwhelming production despite elite talent.  His resume wasn't good in any way that actually mattered.

Presumably Bones or McCoy (all Star Trek jokes aside) is going to be the interim HC.

 

I’m going to also assume Papa Callahan and Holz are gone. Fuchs becomes the OLine coach in that case.
 

But who is OC? Is it going to be McCoy? Or do they promote Hardegree?

I get your sentiment, and wholeheartedly agree where Buck is concerned, but even you have said that Brinker deserves criticism for his role in this mess. There is a kernel of truth here.

It looks almost like they did it now because of that.  Had they waited until the bye week, which is two weeks after the Patriots game, they could’ve spun it that it had absolutely nothing to do with the Patriots game since they would have also played the Colts and Chargers.

 

Of course there’s also another side in that AAS had made up her mind and it would have been a bit weird firing a coach in the unlikely event that they actually started winning games.  So in that sense they had to do it when they did just because she’d already made up her mind.  I’m actually a bit surprised it didn’t happen after the Houston game.  Unless they were concerned about the optics of firing him after the Houston game, making it look reactionary.  I would assume it would have happened last week had they not come back to win.

He also didn’t call plays which leads to questions about how much of it was actually Taylor doing most of the heavy lifting.

Taylor’s doing great without Burrow!  Let’s not forget he went 2-14 before Burrow got there.

Callahan firing thoughts: had to happen…just 9 months too late. Rookie QB coming in, and you needed someone you were 10000% confident in from day one. Not celebrating it though… feels like putting a bandaid on a broken leg. Sell the team, AAS.

I still think she’s a good owner.  I think all four firings had merit.  Maybe the timing on the first one wasn’t great.  But it’s clear she’s fully invested in the team and has improved them off the field.  They need to get the next hire right though with the new stadium on the horizon.

Take it back to who hired him and consider that Callahan is a good talker. People often talk themselves into a gopd job because the ones doing the hiring often only have a person's resume and interviews to go off of. And if the person doing the hiring isn't especially adept at identifying good vs not good, well...
