KogaShuko
These front office guys all look the same to me though the board consensus had me feeling pretty good about all the guys landing interviews. This franchise has needed stability for way to long. Hopefully this power structure and do that and give us all something worth watching again. smokeater

It's smart because if you have a QB with elite awareness and scrambling ability, who gives af about a tackle? Just make a new pocket. I'm not saying the Titans are going to get into a bidding war for Trey Smith what I'm saying is it is pretty clear how much the Chiefs value the IOL. I won't say the Chiefs value talent at the IOL over tackles. It is just easier to find IOL talent than tackle talent. Especially when you consistently draft at the bottom of the first round. However, if you are able to have a really strong guard to guard, or LT to center, or center to RT, then you can game plan around weaknesses. And, if you have Mahomes, he can throw off platform. He navigates the pocket well, and has a good spacial awareness of where the rush lanes are and where defenders are coming from. That said, we saw early in the year when the Chiefs hadn't moved Thuney to LT yet, that he would get spooked and take off, or move directly into a sack. He lost trust of his LT and that really affected his footwork and his efficiency. Add in that they were really trying to work on their downfield passing game with a rookie WR and little else, and the offense stalled a lot. I personally didn't want Thuney to go out to LT for the game today because I think that the best opportunity to win the two games after this one is to have DJ Humprhies play at an average LT level and that having Thuney out there and downgrading the guard position actually weakens the ceiling of the offense, even if it raises the floor. That said, Mahomes clearly performed better with Thuney at LT. Not because Thuney is a great LT, but rather, he is consistent and Mahomes knows what to expect. Every team has to be built differently. That is one of the things that the Chiefs have done really well. They have adjusted as they have needed to. Some years, they have had an explosive offense with explosive weapons, some years, they have had a great defense and an efficient offense. If you have a great IOL, you can have below average tackles. If you have a great offensive line, you can have lesser WR's. If you have a great IOL, you can have lesser rb's. If you have a great defense, then the offense can be middling. The key is that you play complimentary football. And, the Chiefs have done that well so far. When coaches and GM's try to have a template and make each team fit that template, that is when things go poorly. I also think the current setup was probably a selling point. These lifelong scouts or player personnel guys don’t want to be dealing with all the minutia that Brinker will be handling. All these guys want to do is put together a badass roster of players and coaches, and this is an opportunity to do just that. Sure Brinker has final say so but I doubt he’ll be overruling his GM that he just handpicked on a regular basis. BudsOilers, and Number9

They stopped just short of saying racism played a factor. It was over the top emotional and the had no time for anyone that would say that Ran was fired because he sucked at his job. The worst part is that they are one of the more reasonable voices in Nashville sports media. At this point in time it looks like AAS and Brinker aren't playing and may actually know WTF they are doing. AAS and the braintrust deserve credit for realizing Carthon was incompetent and moving on before they execute a critical offseason. SARGO24
I’m so bored - let’s try a little mock offseason. FA: LB Nick Bolton, RG Trey Smith, T Jedrick Willis, and S Andre Sisko. - Bolton and Smith the Kc connection, with Smith having played at TN, plus the need at the positions. It makes too much sense. Willis thrived under Bill Callahan and can be a nice bounce back T signing and he’s still young. Draft 1. QB Cam Ward 2. WR Matthew Golden 4. TE Mason Taylor or TE Elijah Arroyo 4. Edge 4. (assuming KC wins it all) - WR again or Edge again Bluth
