I respect him greatly but I would argue that Andy Reid has never really had a terrible QB situation for any extended period of time. He had McNabb for years in Philly and while he wasn't elite, he was good enough to get them to NFC championship games. He then had Michael Vick for a few years before he was completely washed. Later, in KC he had Alex Smith who by this point in his career was considered a good even if limited QB. We all know what happened after Smith. Not to take away from his greatness as a coach but  Reid has actually had more QB luck than a lot of head coaches in this league IMO.  We all mocked and criticized Mularkey but I don't remember him  ever having a QB even on the level of Donovan McNabb.

That was my point.  His dips in his career happened with qb dips.

I think it's obvious at this point the Titans are taking Ward. I'm on board and think his ceiling is pretty high. Callahan gave an interview to A to Z after the season that was super revealing about t

I'm totally fine with the Titans drafting Ward. Enough people think he can be good and he's shown enough NFL traits. It would not be like the Titans overdrafting Anthony Richardson or Trey Lance.

I'd counter that he got a lot out of McNabb who was a limited QB in similar fashion to Hurts. You can do a lot worse but you have to design the offense around the fundamental fact they are not good pocket QBs.

He elevated Mike Vick tremendously as a passer.

He completely rebooted Alex Smith's career.

And regardless if Mahomes would always have been a great, he pulled greatness out of him instantly and made a juggernaut. He gets credit for helping draft and mold him.

That isn't what I would just call QB luck.

I would counter your counter by stating that in order to "get the most" out of a QB, there has to be something within him in the first place. IMO the vast majority of failed NFL QBs just didn't have it in them so to have a stretch of guys that you could even maximize is a privilege most coaches never get. How much more do you suspect Reid would've gotten out of Locker, Mett, Mariota, and now Levis? My guess is we still would've sucked pretty bad.

Belichich is the greatest NFL mind in history and a defensive genius for sure.

But none of that matters if he didn't have a great QB all that time. We see his long record without one. He's Mularkey!

A great QB is similarly meaningless if paired with a group who is constantly outmatched in the playoffs.

Josh Allen has been one of the best playoff QBs ever seen - his EPA is excellent even in his losses.  But his defenses have been abysmal.  And while he is the most extreme example, you see that he's far from alone in this regard.

So while Belichik's consistent Top 10 defenses don't make much of a difference on their own, they'd be making a world of difference in the playoffs for someone like Allen.  I certainly hope we don't make the same mistake of sticking with a mediocre HC like Buffalo or Cincinnati has, while watching KC make the SB every year with their world-class coaching staff

Manning missed so many routine throws it was alarming. Also those INTs were bad, especially the floater

Wherever he goes, they will get him top OL and receivers.  I hope that's the Titans plan for Cam.
