Vrabel gaining more personnel control is not a good thing - regardless of who the new GM is - I promise you that.

Vrabel's comment "who is he going to throw it to?" about the receivers/Malik is a little more cryptic now.    I loved Jrob, but I love AAS more. She ain't fucking around. Ya love to see it.

I think he wants the Eagles offense. My guess is that he wants a mobile QB to match with a dominant defense.

This is a shocking move -- but one thing it confirms is that most posters around here don't have any idea what they are talking about. I said in the game thread that the Eagles were doing a lot of things that flew in the face on TR wisdom, including paying multiple WRs and starting a mobile QB. Today shoots holes in the JRob hype, and certainly the ridiculous idea that his late-round finds made up for his high draft pick and FA busts.

And now people think this is a bad look and they should have waited, but AAS doesn't have a track record of being emotional in decisions, so I assume this has been percolating for awhile.

Having a great mobile QB changes everything and minimizes our reliance on a star RB.

We're a solid team but we weren't going anywhere with how we're built.

Lamar Jackson...come on down!!!!

If they want to bring a guy in for that role, I actually think Tyler Hundley could be a good get. He's looked great in their offense.

Also, I mentioned last week that people should stop assuming JRob is killing it with all his trash heap finds on defense. I said it was far more plausible that Vrabel's scheme was making the players all look better, as evidenced by how bad all JRob's offensive decisions have been.

It's definitely Vrabel coaching up the units and the talent deficiencies.

Btw - Really glad they finally ran JRob out of town.

Never liked that guy anyway, was holding the team back.

All this second guessing about Julio. Everyone here was busting a nut when we got him. I, myself, ran to a casino to bet on winning the AFC just based on the rumors of his imminent signing.  A healthy Julio and AJB was fantastic on paper at the time.

I fault JRob on numerous failings (especially Wilson and Farley), but on Julio, he gets a pass from me.

It's about what led up to that decision. It didn't work out, but that is a loss on the record of the GM (fair or not). You don't trade a 2nd round pick for a player who played a half a season and then release him seven months later and think it's okay because people were excited when the move happened.

I was like you, it did look good on paper but the money was absolutely crazy. The injury history was there too.

Props to you for admitting this. I think Brown 100% wanted to be here and retire here, as he said.

Yeah, I'm going back over the things he's said and he was consistent about wanting to stay here. I just thought it was PR battling back n forth and just Brown trying to make himself look good in the situation. Vrabel had no power to keep him here at the time except to make his wishes public.

I still think it's bad form if Vrabel pulled a power struggle, but if things had become untenable with JRob, which I guess it had, then moving on was the thing to do. And firing in mid-season isn't exactly unheard of. We did it before with Whisenhunt and no one can argue that was a bad move. That fucker had to geaux.

Hey, maybe AJB can find a way to force himself out of Philly and come back. Then we can re-sign Corey Davis and have a trio of AJB, Burks, and Davis next year. Yeah... that can happen, right?
