Is Fassel ready to lead a team. Especially one potentially in the middle of a season? He is the best coach but has he been viewed as a head coach candidate?

Not saying I think he's the choice, but he's done it before.

I don’t think Callahan can call plays and manage a game. He hasn’t proven he can do either much less both. Something needs to change. He looks a like deer caught in headlights. He is conservative when

That's not why. It leaves the coordinators in place and causes the least disruption until they can hire a HC in the offseason

Fassel.

You said the other day it can get a lot worse, but we are getting to the point where change has to be made. Wanted your input on how you think they would handle Bill leaving mid-season. Bring someone out of retirement or something? Fassell has to know some guys sitting on the couch. Or I guess give it to his assistant?

I didn’t think the offensive line is the reason they lost today. I have no idea how they would handle it. Just promote Scott Fuchs I guess? Would be weird to hire an outside guy

LMAO. Might as well fire Borgonzi and Brinker too! Fire the scout team! Fire the damn janitor! That'll get us heading in the right direction!!

LMAO at you guys wanting to hire Fassel as HC just because special teams have gotten marginally better.

It's taken this franchise 20+ years to draft a legitimate franchise QB and firing everybody 1/4 of the way through the season would be a great way to fuck up Ward's career.

I expected this season to be about developing Ward. I didn't expect much more than that. JFC! We have one of the worst rosters in the league. Oline still needs work, We're starting 5 rookies. We have no depth. But firing the damn coach is the answer! Callahan might be in over his head but firing him at this point of the season is just stupid.

Fassel makes sense because the HC is about managing the team -- both coaches and personnel (and the games themselves). Fassel has experience doing this and is obviously a well respected coach. Like Oman said, this allows the OC and DC to run their sides and call plays, which minimizes changes mid-season.

They wouldn't be implementing a new offense or changing the language, or systematically implementing widespread weekly changes.

Even Oilerman is on board.  It's bad.

I just think Ward needs stability. You can fire Callahan but we'd still be running his offense. The OC is essentially an extension of BC. Good luck finding a quality HC after all the firings over the last 2 years. Callahan deserves to at least finish the season.

Bones or McCoy. They have the most overall coaching experience. Interim coaches aren’t about picking someone with the most potential. It’s about picking up someone that can impact the remaining coaching staff the least and have some semblance of game management to get you back to some type of baseline.

Wilson’s defense hasn’t played well so he should continue focusing on getting the defense ready each week.

If Bill Callahan is out, then that is fine. We have a respected longtime college OL coach in Scott Fuchs to step up.

If you think keeping Callahan is a better option after what we just witnessed... again... I don't know what to tell you. There aren't any great options here but protecting Ward's career is the strongest argument for getting rid of Callahan immediately, not the other way around. He's taken 15 sacks already this season and he's had to overcome stupidity to get anything going whatsoever. I haven't seen a single game where Callahan has made it easier on the QB. I've seen several games where he's made it unnecessarily difficult.

This is a joke. There are still only 32 NFL Head Coaching jobs. The job will still be highly desirable. The prospective coach will be coming on board with:

- most cap space in NFL

- Ward at QB

- A top 5 pick that could be traded for even more assets

- a new stadium to play in less than two years.
