Initial Thoughts on the Titans Draft

I’m not some hardcore Vrabel guy but if there’s one thing he did incredibly well it was squeezing every last bit of effort out of his players. 

Because he failed to adapt, and despite the downward trajectory of the team, he continued to ask for more power. His style is great if you want to be .500+ but AAS really wants to be a top franchise. You're not gonna be that playing meathead ball. If one of your #1 traits you look for in a WR is willingness to block, literally gtfoh. 

 

There are so many things to list, but if you're one of those Vrabel nuthuggers, I can't help you. Reid, McVay, MLF. Those are the successful models now. Sure the Harbaughs do more old school shit successfully, but they'll never win a SB again. They're not good because of their style. They're good because they keep picking the best draft picks.

100%. Both of the WRs actually produced in power 5 conferences (Ayomanor had 1,000 yards in 2023 when the PAC-12 still had everyone and DIke had 700 yards on a mediocre Florida team). We didn't go 100% after athletes or productive college players, it was a pretty solid mixture of guys who fit both categories.

You don't have to tell me... I was on the vrabel sucks train before anyone else. I just can't stand the fake bullshit that vrabel got more out of the team and they were always ready to play. They didn't beat good teams at a greater clip or play hard lol compared to the leavue average. Fans always remember the improbable wins; classic case of confirmation bias.

To be perfectly honest, had a select few receivers not made a few amazing catches in the playoff run, Tannehill throw a perfect ball, and Henry dominate - we don't even have these nuthuggers. Vrabel had a really solid group, and he should've benched Mariota sooner.

Overall, good draft. 

 

3 things I want to see this year:

- average or better offensive line play

- Denard Wilson generating pressure since we don’t have any stud edges (or even average edges)

- Cam Ward to play well enough that we believe he is our franchise qb of the future at the end of the season

In addition, in a deep DL class, they didn't add anyone.  T K McClendon, who was injured all last year is the 5th guy, unless you count D. Jones.

I think they will use their position on the waiver wire to help that.  Lots of guys will be cut that can fill that spot who have experience.

Player I am most excited about is Winston.  He is a real stud i thought we'd never take because of Farley's history.  That is why I never bothered mentioning him.  I think he can be a Pro Bowler.  Just not clear to me when he is a full go.

For the players available, not a fan of the Oladejo and Dike picks. Dike feels like his ceiling is Kalif Raymond. There were clearly more productive and athletic players at their positions with less question marks. Oladejo is traitsy and raw,

 

Big fan of the Helm and Ayomanor picks.

 

The S could be great if healthy.

 

Everyone else is a meh.. the RB looks shifty for his size and the CB made plays on tape that dont get made in the pros. His ints came on tips/overthrows and not good coverage. Th G looks good but his competition was weak so who knows.

 

All in all, everyone seems to play super hard and are good building blocks .. but I think we missed out on playmakers with our first #2 and #4.
