The crying over the team firing a bad GM has been hilarious.

Low bar!

But relevant in context.  The bigger issue is that these guys were not the GM or owner so pinning those team's results on them is simply lazy.

With either Dodds or Cunningham, the scouting roots and alignment philosophically would seem to match Brinker's vision.

Breer says Cunningham also has a relationship with Brinker and is the name to watch.

And maybe more importantly, Cunningham is also familiar to Strunk so not sure if that will come into play.

He’s the interesting one in terms of circumstances.  He interviewed a few years ago and apparently was a finalist but they didn’t like what he had to say and …chose poorly.

They liked him enough (and vice versa I guess) that he was put on the list again and has advanced towards the final 6.

My understanding is that the interview list was done by Brinker this time whereas he wasn't here last time.

I'd also point out that if the desire was to align with Vrabel as an established HC, it's certainly reasonable that Cunningham pushing full rebuild didn't jive with tweak/competitive rebuild and hence failed the alignment test.

With Brinker now in charge, that rebuild notion is completely aligned.

While he might not win the job I think it will be good for AAS to interview a guy like Ed Dodds who is well known for his colorful language and no nonsense brutal honesty, if there is one of these candidates who won't sugarcoat things and give his true even if brutally honest appraisal of the current Titans roster it will be Dodds.

If nothing else exposing AAS to the unfiltered reality of where the Titans currently are will have been a productive start to the second round of this GM search.

Sorry, but I don’t really buy that. I think it’s fair to consider the track record of organizations they have been a part of, especially as they have been promoted through the ranks and their opinion given more weight.

Carthon had a good resume. No one said it was incredibly weak at the time.

The knock was that he had spent most of his time on the pro personnel side, which is what makes him a poor fit for the position now. It wasn’t seen as a horrible flaw though.

JRob had a good resume… I’m sure Webster did too (though I don’t recall so don’t quote me on that).

A good resume is a prerequisite but doesn’t really predict success.
