Interesting listening to Jim Wyatt talk about the GM interview process, for these in person sessions it sounds like it isn't a group of 5-6 people in a room bombarding the candidate with questions it is the candidate spending one on one time with the likes of AAS, Nihill, Brinker, Callahan etc.

 

Wyatt also revealed the Ed Dodds interview started at 8am CT and ran for around 5.5hrs which seems to indicate it was a fair bit longer than the 2nd interview of the day with Terrance Gray.

McShay has the Raiders as the best vacant GM position followed by the Titans then the Jets conversation starts at the 47 minute mark.

Very hard to read into interview times too much. It's usually a positive (60/40?), but I've been in and conducted interviews that ran short or long. 

 

You can have short interviews because it's just a great fit and there's no reason to question further worrying for someone to stumble. Likewise, you can have interviews run long because either side is dubious and needs more answers. And, obviously, vice versa.

Basically purely Brady's influence and not having to deal with Woody Johnson or AAS.

 

Important context on McShay one of his best buddies in the league was former Jets GM Joe Douglas so he has heard all the behind the scenes horror stories about Woody Johnson and why he would never rank that opening highly.

Woody Johnson is terrible - even worse than Haslam and Davis.

That is why the rising influence of Brady in football related decisions was raised as a factor, should Spytek end up as the Raiders GM that would be totally a Brady influenced decision.

Wyatt also said not only were the people they contacted interested in the GM job but people reached out to the team wanting to interview on their own. A desirable job indeed.

Can't be everyone in the local media was telling me this was only an Assistant GM job that no one would be interested in, the about face in the space of a week of some of the A to Z guys has been hilarious.

Isn’t that amazing? Based on what A to Z was saying and some Nashville radio, I was convinced that Reggie McKenzie and Catherine Hickman were the only types we could hire lol
