The knock was that he had spent most of his time on the pro personnel side, which is what makes him a poor fit for the position now. It wasn’t seen as a horrible flaw though. JRob had a good resume… I’m sure Webster did too (though I don’t recall so don’t quote me on that). A good resume is a prerequisite but doesn’t really predict success. Yeah but that’s all we can go on lol I don’t imagine anyone is ready to get in a foxhole with any of these guys at this point.
kgsTitan
If you just took any random former player and named them GM, you would get the results of Ran Carthon. I don't believe he had any unique skills or knowledge about anything. He's just a player who washed out of the league and wanted to be a GM. Those are his only qualifications. The next GM has to have a serious track record of responsibility and success for doing this. The KC guy would be very hard to pass up if he'll take the job. I think it’s fair to consider the track record of organizations they have been a part of, especially as they have been promoted through the ranks and their opinion given more weight. Considering Irsay was heavily involved in the Richardson pick, I'm not going to ding Dodd too hard for that. Plus it's not like Indy hasn't drafted fairly well aside from that pick and his Seattle work was pretty good.
OnsideKick
The Titans will hold second GM interviews with Chiefs ass't GM Mike Borgonzi and Bears ass't GM Ian Cunningham tomorrow, and Bucs ass't GM John Spytek and Packers VP Jon-Eric Sullivan on Thursday, per sources. Indy's Ed Dodds and Buffalo's Terrance Gray interviewed there today. Edited January 14, 2025 by OnsideKick Titans279

Prefer JES, Borgonzi, Spytek, but Gray, Cunningham, and Dodds all have their own merits. BudsOilers, Thrill, and SuperFreak90
BudsOilers
I know the least about Gray but he's been with Buffalo since 2017 and part of that group that built up the Bills. titanskick8851, and IowaOiler

Gray and Borgonzi seem to be pivotal to how their current teams were built. Dodds, Cunningham moved from good spots for FO development (SEA, PHI/BALT). JES is a Packer lifer that did have the fortunate opportunity to come up in the organization along with Aaron Rodgers. Spytek is the relative newer exec on the scene, but helped lure Brady to TB and you have to respect how they've stayed relevant. Im guessing its Polish/Slavic. My girl says in Polish it would be like "spiteck" as in spit eck. Could also be Spee or Shpee -tek if actually from that region originally. But its the USA and names got fucked all sorts of ways. We lost alphabet characters and sounds from other countries... and it could easily be Spy Tech Callidus, and IsntLifeFunny
