The biggest bright spot last night was Sweat's play.    6 tackles, 2 more loss and constantly disrupting the Miami blocking schemes. He did this without Simmons as well. He played 78% of the

Titans HAD to upgrade their Dline. Newton, Fiske, and Jenkins were all guys who played the same role as Simmons. I like those guys but I've told people all offseason that the Titans weren't going to d

As long as they can keep Sweat away from Davenport he's got a chance!

Don't get the "he's a lazy slob" vibe from him.  I'd imagine the Titans wanting him is big.  Also think Simmons and Coburn can give him vet leadership too.

It's not like football players at Texas get to sit around all day playing video games eating pizza. Clearly a major part of his weight gain is genetic...not just lifestyle. That could actually add additional challenges to maintaining his weight. But as long as he's motivated he's going to have the best professional help someone could possibly have to help him keep his weight under control and stay conditioned.

It's not like the Titans don't have access to some top tier dieticians and chefs. I'm sure they can and will develop a program for him to abide by, the strength & conditioning department to help him, and the FO to fine him if he doesn't abide.

Although, I wonder what makes you say it's genetics. He looked pretty svelte when he first got to Texas.

A lot of athletes justify the increased calorie intake because they are training so hard.. but he's gonna have to learn what to eat, portion size, and maybe take metformin...

Yeah, let's not label anyone an addict.

Never did. You just don’t read directly.

Im just pointing out that grand public gestures of doing better for others isn’t some indicator of it being in his past.

I'm not saying it's all genetics. I'm saying surely genetics plays a major role.

I say that because clearly athletes at a major college program like Texas have a pretty rigorous workout schedule throughout the year. People who experience that much weight gain in that short amount of time usually live extremely inactive lifestyles combined with horrible eating habits...and often genetics. I'm sure he was consuming a lot of calories, but even so it would be hard to gain that much weight given his level of physical activity.

Let’s be realistic here. For the man to have gone from 360 to 390 he’d need to be eating 6000 calories a day. Nobody is eating 6000 cals of clean food lol.

He didn't just go from 360 to 390. He went from maybe 250 to 390.

I had a friend who was a lineman at Texas. He said once practice and the season started, lineman needed around 10,000 calories per day to not lose weight.  The team had cooks and nutritionists plan for such calorie demands.  He may have been exaggerating but that is what he said.

Here is a news article going over the calorie needs for athletes:

https://www.lcsun-news.com/story/life/food/2015/09/16/eat-like-lineman/72397678/

"The more you physically exert yourself, the more calories you need for fuel. The average offensive lineman requires 6,200 to 6,500 calories a day to perform at his peak with sufficient energy throughout an entire game. Even a lowly quarterback needs 5,200 to 5,400 calories."
