They'll also be able to poach some sporting events from both Indy and Atlanta such as final 4 and college playoffs. Nashville is a much more desirable tourist destination than either of those cities. I’m not “all about government spending” when it comes to benefitting billionaires or corporate interests. But with the NFL, that’s the only way Nashville got a team or will keep a team. And as the city is going to fund it primarily through tourism income and by people actually using the new stadium campus, I’m not bothered by it. Locals who don’t give a shit about football and never set foot on the grounds of the stadium actually benefit from this deal. They will pay nothing extra in local taxes and the city eliminates billions in obligations loading down the general budget. It's a lie to say you oppose it for all billionaires or corporate interests, but I won't go into it. "Primarily" through tourism isn't entirely, and local non-football fans aren't going to benefit at all. Their tax burden isn't going down, and the stadium and increased events will only make things more congested and higher priced. As I said though, I don't really care. How TN and Nashville governments want to waste their taxpayer dollars is their own decision. I am an Oilers fan and will always be an Oilers fan, regardless of what city wants to claim them as their own.
