Number9
Saying Jake left the NFL to go to church on Sundays is like the people who get fired from the job, then leave saying "you can't fire me because I quit." abenjami
I read the first two pages of this thread and stopped. It seems pretty clear Locker was a religious wacko and a pussy. OILERMAN, MIKE75, and Lewan 1 1

He never stuck around complaining he got a raw deal or anything like VY. He left on his own terms. He was and is a great kid. Don't hate the guy just because he didn't end up being a great QB. One thing he always did was give 100%. LOL. Vince just won though. And Fisher still sucks TitanTez

Worst first round pick in Titans history. I would take Locker over VY any day of the week. This is the most stupid thing I've read in a while. Sounds like the old stupid Titans fans who helped create a culture of losing. And racism DrFlamehead

Worst debate ever. That's the thing. Young's career with the Titans was probably better but when Locker was on it wasn't close. Young I don't think was even capable of passing the ball as well as Locker did in those few games that he was real good. Guys go into Starbucks, don't buy anything and when asked to leave (most places have the same policy, if you don't buy something you can't hang out) they refuse. Then the cops come and they still refused to leave. Basic, cut and dried, rebellious idiots who think they were above the law. These guys make their race look like goons. How could 2 guys make their race look like goons? Wouldn’t they only make themselves look like goons? Or as stated, are all others judged by the failures of their race? How possibly would these two people be and indication/representation of anyone other than themselves? Like does Timothy McVeigh make his race look like terrorist or the members of Theta Tau make their race look like racist POS? The more you write, the more the indication of a racist and idiot you are? Number9, CreepingDeath, and IsntLifeFunny
Tim
20 hours ago, Jonboy said: I think most of us knew his faith and family played a big role in why he left, but this really dives into the details of what he was going through personally. There were a couple of lines that stood out to me: To every person except one, Locker’s career had become a feel-good narrative, steeped (inexplicably) in religion, steeled by success. But as his story spun into fable, his fame and draft stock ballooned, and so did the pressure. He still loved football—the game itself, anyway—but the demands required of a star QB felt like a burden. He didn’t know it then, but already he viewed the game from two disparate vantage points. He relished Saturday afternoons, daily practices, even film study—it was everything else he struggled with. ... Millions were millions, reasoned Locker, who says he doesn’t regret sticking around, even if his draft stock slid in his senior season, after which he went No. 8 to the Titans and signed for $12.5 million. Locker had explained to reporters that he came back because he loved school and wanted to finish his history degree. But that wasn’t entirely true, he says now. In reality he knew he wasn’t ready, knew he couldn’t leave yet. All the savior stuff, all the expectations, “it wore him down,” says Scott. ... Hasselbeck says his friend got “a raw deal. Just a terrible situation. So many coaches [three coordinators in four years]. You never knew who was in charge. The coach? The general manager? The owner? That organization was really bizarre, and so far behind in terms of nutrition and everything else.” (The Titans declined to comment.) ... No surprise to hear how disorganized things were. It seems JRob and Amy have really helped to stabilize things. Hopefully they've addressed the nutrition issues and whatever "everything else" Hasslebeck is referencing. https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/04/18/jake-locker-nfl-2011-draft-tennessee-titans-why-he-quit Jake Locker sucked. Tim
The most hilarious irony of this is that hardcore athiest CTF loved him some Jake Locker and actually tougher he was a good QB. abenjami

Especially if he had decent and stable coaching which he didn't have. 4 games into his 3rd season he looked pretty good. Got hurt, missed two games and came back with a 300 yard game against SF. The kid just couldn't put together a string of games where he could stay healthy. Jake Locker couldn’t put together a string of accurate passes. He sucked. He was innacruate in college, that’s why many of us were sickened when we drafted him. He’s lucky as hell he gets to use the revisionist injury excuse. Dinx81
VY was the overall better QB. Jake Locker never threw his pads into the stands in a temper tantrum. Safe to say neither wins and we didnt either. big2033, and MIKE75

But the team carried him? Lmao. Please. As far as passing goes, VYs looked uglier but their stats are roughly indentical and VYs mobility easily pushes him past Locker. Ppl all gung ho Mariota got us to the playoffs. VY got us there with a far less talented team and a coach everyone says sucks dick. As well as starting out 0-8 But VY still gets shitted on. In VYs rookie he had 19 total TDs to 13 INTs and only started 13 games. Last year Mariota had 16 total TDs and 15 INTs and started 15 games. Lol. But hail Marcus Mariota!!! Those that shit on VY and elevate Locker over him are the racist ones. Can't give a black man no credit for being successful in the face of adversity but want to coddle and make excuses for Locker and Mariot. Simple Jake.... The ‘clutch VY’ argument was proven wrong years ago. VY proved out to be a complete POS who happened to be on a team with a great defense with probably the best Lineman that we’ve ever seen suit up for the Titans. VY was a better QB than Locker though. I wouldn’t say otherwise. Locker was easier to cheer for as he never quit on the field of play like VY did twice. T-RAC
Locker was a better passer. VY was a better runner. VY was(is) dumb as rocks but Locker isn't exactly overly burdened with intelligence. Both were horribly inconsistent, with moments where you thought they could be great and moments when they looked completely lost. Because of this, they were both overdrafted developmental QBs. VY's running made him somewhat more productive in his time here but we was mostly carried to his W-L. That's why he failed miserably post-Titans. They were both major busts. VY was the bigger bust, not because he was strictly worse, but because he could have been so much better. After the rose bowl, VY had superstar written all over him but it didn't matter what was written all over him because apparently the guy can't read. I was a huge fan of the VY pick, not so much of the Locker pick. If forced to take one now, I take Locker. When VY refused to go back into the Jax game after getting picked off, he was dead to me.
