My thoughts.   I post infrequently nowadays but do want to do so tonight.  I have vacillated with each new entry into the HC/OC sweepstakes.  I studied what I could with available data on ea

FWIW on F Words Zach Lyons just said he heard the interview between McDaniel and the Titans went “very well”.

A jump scare? I'm not sure what you were trying to say at the end there, but I'll assume that you are referring to it being scary, the QBs they had available.

I'll give you that the QBs for Cleveland have been abysmal. Is that not a knock, though? It's hard for me to imagine that he's just an innocent bystander in all of the roster dysfunction. You would think, as HC, he had a big say in many of these people. Some of that was likely out of his hands, but there is no way he didn't have a say in bringing in guys like Winston and Sanders.

I'll also push back on the notion that he won whenever he had passable QB play. He had two 11-win seasons with a single playoff win. Outside of those two seasons, he didn't do a whole lot of winning at all, regardless of who was at QB. Flacco was a SB-winning QB. Winston isn't great, but he's done better in other spots. Watson was a superstar in Texas. Brissett has had some success in multiple spots.

he won 5 games this year with Washed up old Flacco, noodle arm Gabriel, and a horrible Sanders at QB. With a bad OL and 1 WR.... This is where context matters. 5-12 under these circumstances is actually a positive for his resume. All while having to deal with a meddlesome owner that forced the trade for Watson who was out of the league for nearly two years, and multiple personnel guys fighting over control in DePodesta and Berry.

So exactly who should be by hyped for who has a stronger resume without any failures?

Anyone who's not currently a HC in the NFL will have warts...or at minimum holes in their resume that bring uncertaintly. To me Stefanski is the candidate with the least amount of risk...especially if he brings Schwartz with him.

I'm not arguing in favor of any particular HC, so much as pointing out that Stefanski has some negatives that are being conveniently ignored for a narrative that I think presents a false image of who he is as a candidate.

If you want to talk resumes, Mike McCarthy has a .608 winning record over 18 years, a superbowl on his resume, and several big time QBs that he can at least point to and say he had something to do with their success. His resume blows Stefanski's out of the water.

Matt Nagy and Kliff Kingsbury had 12-4 and 11-6 seasons with the Bears and Cardinals. Nagy never really had elite offensive success in Chicago, and I'm super leery of him as well, but at least he comes from an Andy Reid system that is a proven, successful system, and Borgonzi should know the good, bad, and the ugly with him. Kingsbury had a great year with Daniels in his rookie year.

I honestly don't know who I would pick, and I'll definitely defer to Borgonzi, who's opinion means more than any of ours, but I think i'm not a fan of jumping on the Stefanski train just because some media heads said so.

Yes they’ve been bad.

He had nothing to do with Watson, but I agree I’m skeptical he has had no say in the QBs, which is why it’s good we had one in place (Who the Browns loved last year)

Watson was physically and mentally completely broken by the time he got to Cleveland, Stefanski still went 9-10 with him and he was terrible and never healthy. The rest were all backups

This is overstating things a bit. That offensive line has talent, and the defense is good with one of the best pass rushers in NFL history.

Yea, I was wrong about 2020 and edited my post accordingly. Still, we're talking about a 3 time all pro. I'll take your word on the injuries but I don't remember it going down like that in Cleveland. You gotta pray that reports are right that Stefanski didn't want Watson and hope that they are wrong that he struggled to maintain respect of the locker room.

These are some good points. It’s easy to get caught up in the hype of a candidate but all of them have warts.

The Falcons job has a lot of pros. Good OL; defense that looks solid. GREAT RB. At least one good WR (London). The problem is that they have a QB issue. The Cousins/Penix thing was a disaster. I don't know how you sign a guy to 4 years...was it 180 million? And then immediately draft Penix in the first round. Just weird. I know you get a young QB when you can, but Penix isn't even that good, IMO. So, the Falcons have a good team, but no solid QBOF. Browns have a great defense, but that OL is getting older, and while they have some good WR/TE talent, they also don't have a QB.

Raiders? Ummm...missing almost everything. They even upset their star DE. Dumb team. No one should go there.

Jets? Same problem.

So, NYG....this is attractive. Dart is good (not better than Ward. I would NOT trade Ward for Dart right now, straight up. I just think Dart was willing to be a bit more reckless than Ward this year. Ironically, Ward got hurt anyway. But whever). Giants are the bigger market. LOTS more opportunity to make money outside of the team, be popular, etc. However, there are also higher expectations that come with that.

Titans? Have the QBOF. Have 100 million in cap space for FA. Have the 4th overall pick. Have a good defense in place, overall (minus Edge and CBs...better get those). OL has been heavily invested. Still no sure fire LT, but everything else is roughly in place. Need to upgrade WR and RB on offense.

I think the Giants and Titans are the most attractive if I'm looking for a HC job. No income tax in TN, but that's a minor consideration. I think it depends on the person. Some will prefer NYG. Some will prefer Titans.

Oh, I didn't mention the Cardinals. LOL. They are not a factor.

Yeah we are mostly all pumped about Stefanski but he's far from the cleanest candidate. He does check the most boxes that the team has alluded to wanting though.

- Offensive, HC experience, 2x COY, brought a bad team to its highest point in decades, leader of men, good guy, willingness to collaborate and self-reflective enough to pass of play-calling if he felt the need.

You want to see him do more with that Defensive talent and OL. But he was also fighting the Steelers, Ravens, and a Burrow led Bengals for a playoff spot. The ownership meddling, and injuries to Chubb and Baker also kept fucking them over.

Give him a good OC - of which there should be several - and I think he's got the juice.

AP voting... You don't even know which fucking awards you are referring to. and I thought your trade Simmons nonsense was bad. LOL

Trade Simmons? WTF are you talking about? I never advocated for trading Simmons.
