My thoughts.   I post infrequently nowadays but do want to do so tonight.  I have vacillated with each new entry into the HC/OC sweepstakes.  I studied what I could with available data on ea

FWIW on F Words Zach Lyons just said he heard the interview between McDaniel and the Titans went “very well”.

Yes. He left in 2022 (in the offseason). Meaning he was there in 2020 and 2021 with Stefansky.

2020: the year he threw for 26 TDs and 8 interceptions and made the playoffs.

2021: the injured season.

2022: he was with the panthers and rams.

Okay, thanks for clarifying. I already told you I don't follow the Browns, and my memory was hazy. I remember he got traded, but I thought it was during the year, not the offseason. The ass-hat remarks about you can't read today - totally unnecessary.

Yes, my bad. Absolutely wasn't paying attention.

I made corrections and deferred, and made no arguments when confronted with the facts.

Maybe it’s because I root for the MLB version of the Cleveland Browns.  But it’s pretty easy to see the appeal of Stefanski here.

Takes a thankless job where many others have failed.  And turns them into a winner and they look like a professional winning ballclub and not a joke.

Now if you can do that in that shithole you can do that in any other spot.

I was talking to myself. It's Associated Press. I read it wrong. Completely wrong on the all-pro thing. I'm distracted and have completely f'd up this thread. Sincerely, my bad.

Still, you guys are dicks. All I was doing was questioning the logic that Stefanski is the clear best pick. If we are basing it on resumes, there are coaches with better records. If we're basing it on scheme, there are coaches with better results. If we're basing it on personnel development, don't get me started.

In my eyes, he’s won whenever he’s had passable QB play. Look at their passing leaders every year since 2020. It’s a jump scare

I got that sense because it’s usually spin from an agent that it’s mutual but figured you’d have a good ear to the ground there

This guy was a Skins beat reporter before getting a local radio gig. Knows his shit unlike the nashville yahoos. Early reports are that the off players and Daniels in particular are not happy. The Skins main problems this year were Daniels couldn't stay healthy, nothing to do with the offense scheme, and a terrible defense. Most of the fanbase has soured on peters as well. They are angry that he's traded away so many picks when they have tons of holes.

He still finished in AP voting and almost got rookie of the year. Had a great 3rd year and Stefanski fucked it all up after he was injured.

you can blame the GM and ownership for going for Watson, but he only had 1 other good year after that.

you can’t base an opinion on Stefanski on the false logic of “he almost did well in Cleveland” go look at the fucking rosters he had! Stars! What’s he gonna do here when he has 2 dudes who are stars and another rookie with a fucked up shoulder?

He's 3x AP and was 2nd in OROY, 11th in MVP 2024. He went to shit when Stefanski showed up

What is AP?

I don’t think Stefanski is some locked in elite coach, but I like his offensive mind, for the most part I think he’s had a good staff and has humility in his hires, and I think he’s a good voice in the locker room. I believe he’s better than his record would indicate

I'm a huge Baker believer and I know this has already been cleared up in this thread but lets get full clarity....

-Baker was 2nd in voting for Associated Press's Offensive ROY - no award.

5 years and 3 teams later on an uber -talented Bucc's team - he was a:

-2023 ProBowler  and 3rd for Associated Press's Comeback player of the year.

-2024 Probowler and 11th in voting for both Associated Press's Offensive Player of the year and MVP.

He has never been an-all pro nor won ANY Associated Press awards. He HAS made 2 pro-bowls on one of the most talented offensive teams in the league.

Stefanski 's 1st season with Baker absolutely showed the best version of the player until he arrived in Tampa...though Baker did have a very good rookie year nearly on par with his first year with Stefanski.  So who's to say if that was all-Baker or Stefanski was a big part of it.

Bakers injuries and the Browns franchise hindered his development. If you bring young talent back to Tampa,

A jump scare? I'm not sure what you were trying to say at the end there, but I'll assume that you are referring to it being scary, the QBs they had available.

I'll give you that the QBs for Cleveland have been abysmal. Is that not a knock, though? It's hard for me to imagine that he's just an innocent bystander in all of the roster dysfunction. You would think, as HC, he had a big say in many of these people. Some of that was likely out of his hands, but there is no way he didn't have a say in bringing in guys like Winston and Sanders.

I'll also push back on the notion that he won whenever he had passable QB play. He had two 11-win seasons with a single playoff win. Outside of those two seasons, he didn't do a whole lot of winning at all, regardless of who was at QB. Flacco was a SB-winning QB. Winston isn't great, but he's done better in other spots. Watson was a superstar in Texas. Brissett has had some success in multiple spots.

Again, not trying to be contrarian or argumentative but I think too much is being made out of his success and not enough attention is being paid to his failures.

So exactly who should be by hyped for who has a stronger resume without any failures?

Anyone who's not currently a HC in the NFL will have warts...or at minimum holes in their resume that bring uncertaintly. To me Stefanski is the candidate with the least amount of risk...especially if he brings Schwartz with him.
