My thoughts.   I post infrequently nowadays but do want to do so tonight.  I have vacillated with each new entry into the HC/OC sweepstakes.  I studied what I could with available data on ea

FWIW on F Words Zach Lyons just said he heard the interview between McDaniel and the Titans went “very well”.

Seems to be his opinion mostly. I am curious if any of them will get actual interviews for the job though.

Thats like saying shaggy will get an interview before scooby. Pretty obvious even if ultimately pointless. Not to discount them in their current jobs, just saying.

We here and the media always over react to the last thing. Amy has done it too but not always.

-Fisher and Munch were in house and conservative- lets go out of house for a modern O!

-Wiz is an unfriendly asshole from elsewhere. Get a nice stabilizing coach from in-house like Mualrkey!

-Mularkey is a poor leader of men, weak, excuse-maker that is a Dinosaur, and we've been with O coaches for a while.... Lets get a leader of men, a young D guy that knows the modern game and likes to teach.

-Vrabel is an asshole that wouldnt know a good offense if it smacked him in the face. He's a micro manager. Lets get an O guru that is nice and personable.

-Cally was completely lost and made poor hires. He wasnt a leader of men and the team didnt grow.

- Oh shit! We fucked that up.. lets get a Vrabel clone!

Brinker and Borg both say that the process and reasoning for getting Callahan was proper (O-minded HC from successful offenses) There has been real talk that they want a HC that has had success as a HC and / or as a playcaller AND Is a leader of men.

Their ideal list is likely an offensive-minded former player with experience as a HC / playcaller and a history of success.

Unless we trade for Dan Campbell... I dont know if that guy exists.  We have to look at current playcalling coordinators that have been HC's in college or the pros before.

Each has their warts (doesnt command a room, not an O guy, debateable success, etc) but that seems to make their top 5 look to me like:

Mccarthy

Nagy

Kingsbury

Halfley

Saleh

I'm sure there's guys that are OC's in the NFL that have been HC's in college / pros that I'm missing.

I didn't think I'd be saying this but I'd prefer Nagy over McCarthy. I just think McCarthy is a dope who has benefited from really solid teams and orgs. And you want a few more SBs with the QBs he's coached

11-11 playoffs 1 SB

Id prefer being punched in the face vs the balls as well.

I’m going to make an amend fwiw……Anthony Weaver replaces Minter in my top 6. I think he’s got a much better presence and I’ll vomit as I say this, he strikes me as a Vrabel type that I think/hope gets the hell out of the way of the OC he hires

Weaver still my number 1 - but not sure if he’s a real option with these recent lists omitting him.

FWIW, I listened to Zach Lyons’ Podcast and they brought up a good point regarding Weaver. Braden Gall insists he is someone they are very interested in. It’s relevant because he was one of the very first before the 2024 season even started to say some version of Ran Carthon was not working hard and things were not going well

I was up late honestly in complete shock that Miami beat the living dog shit out of Ohio State for 80% of the game. I thought we would win, but didn’t expect just that level of dominance.

Spent a lot of time thinking about how Mario built Miami up over the last 3 seasons and it starts with the OL and DL. That’s the model Borgonzi and the new HC need to adapt. The trenches are where the elite teams are strong.

That being said, I’d address CB and WR in free agency since those are stronger markets. But I would consider spending the 1st (after a trade down) or 2nd on an OL. Nothing wrong with Edge and then OL IMo
