Optics wise maybe waiting until the bye would’ve made more sense.  I understand why they did it now though if they were ultimately going to do it anyways.

optics wise they had to do it now because of who the Titans play next week.

Also, as many of us said this past offseason. Titans erred by not doing a complete overhaul. Callahan should have been let go in January with Carthon. There was nothing inspiring from his first season that showed he deserved an extra 6 games. And if we were trying to not look dysfunctional then doing an organizational clean sweep would have been the best way to do it. Now we look messy and its not because this particular outcome was unpredictable

I wasn't on board with firing him, but choosing between firing him now and firing him in back in January I would have preferred firing him then. When you bring in a new GM there needs to be synergy between the GM and HC. But AAS has this shotgun marriage mentality that she just won't give up on.

We better hope Borgonzi can overcome the mass incompetence of this organization.  They really watched the QBs struggle all season long last year in Callahan's offense, and thought it would be a good idea for him to develop the #1 overall pick...

Well, you can take at least a little comfort knowing that Borgonzi wasn't in that group of "they".

I get some are out for blood but come on, Callahan's OFF resume was very good. Are we going to claim now that any Coach tied to good QBs can't be trusted resume wise?

He never called plays and came from a system with underwhelming production despite elite talent.  His resume wasn't good in any way that actually mattered.

Demand better Nashville. No the real problem is Callahan fucking sucked ass.

I get your sentiment, and wholeheartedly agree where Buck is concerned, but even you have said that Brinker deserves criticism for his role in this mess. There is a kernel of truth here.

It looks almost like they did it now because of that.  Had they waited until the bye week, which is two weeks after the Patriots game, they could’ve spun it that it had absolutely nothing to do with the Patriots game since they would have also played the Colts and Chargers.

Of course there’s also another side in that AAS had made up her mind and it would have been a bit weird firing a coach in the unlikely event that they actually started winning games.  So in that sense they had to do it when they did just because she’d already made up her mind.  I’m actually a bit surprised it didn’t happen after the Houston game.  Unless they were concerned about the optics of firing him after the Houston game, making it look reactionary.  I would assume it would have happened last week had they not come back to win.

He also didn’t call plays which leads to questions about how much of it was actually Taylor doing most of the heavy lifting.

Look, you were probably the only one all over this hire from day one.  So props.

Polissero said on rich eisen today there is a lot of coaches and executives around the NFL who are fans of Cam in case that was stupidly in question

They must have missed the Stillman webshow where he declares Ward a bust...

Taylor’s doing great without Burrow!  Let’s not forget he went 2-14 before Burrow got there.

Ultimately it’s about the players.

Callahan firing thoughts: had to happen…just 9 months too late. Rookie QB coming in, and you needed someone you were 10000% confident in from day one. Not celebrating it though… feels like putting a bandaid on a broken leg. Sell the team, AAS.
