Preseason Wk1: Titans @ Bucs Gameday Thread

Ridley was an unexpected last minute addition, but he is now one of the most vital players on the team.  He and Ward already appear to have the mind meld that good QB/WR combos do.

There absolutely have to be better back up QBs available. You can't even evaluate the 2s and 3s at the skill positions with these QBs.

That was my main takeaway from the game. It’s like at every position we have just enough guys to scrap together a serviceable unit if no one gets hurt. 
 

I think if we have perfect health we’re like a 7 win team. So with any injuries to significant players we’re probably winning like 4 or 5 games lol. Small steps.

Exactly. The only position group I think will substantially improve by the start of the regular season are the pass catchers. Cally did talk up the young LBs but honestly they didn't stand out to me at all. He's the HC though so I'll defer to his judgement. I know I've been a debbie downer on Femi but I just haven't seen the pass rush threat from him in anything I've seen. Hopefully he just needs a little work.

To be honest, I think we may be ok at OL. The starting 5 can definitely be pretty good. If Hance is as decent as everyone claims, Duncan has improved, Cush comes back (that is a big if with the Achilles), and Jackson Slater develops during the season, that is a pretty solid 9 offensive linemen if you add Levin. That is not a bad spot to be in.

Whether Restrepo would have looked any better with Allen or not idk, but no one was looking good witg Boyle. How's that a strange hill?

Jefferson had almost the same exact stats that Restrepo did.

 

And before all the "yeah, butt" squadron leaders swoop in to remind me "look at where he is in the pecking order", let me let you know that I am aware. Butt let me also remind you that he should start off higher in the pecking order. He's the 5 year vet they paid in free agency to come in, not Restrepo. I assure you Jefferson's numbers wouldn't have looked any better running routes for Boyle.

 

I am under no delusion that Restrepo is a lock for anything and I never was. No, I don't believe he was given the best opportunity suffering under the bondage of Boyle, but if Callahan doesn't feel he deserves an opportunity to suffer under the bondage of Allen so be it.

I think Simmons will be our leading sack getter with like 7 sacks. Totally agree our pass rush is going to be depressing.

Our backup QBs throw the slowest balls I've ever seen, and I once saw @woolfolksunclesuncle spend three hours mixing a load.  Allen tried to throw a pass 15 yards, and it took like 3 days to get there. 

 

IDK how we evaluate any of our backup WRs during these games.

The Titans have their all-22. QB can look like shit but if the receivers were doing their jobs the right way and were getting open the coaches will see it.

 

If they feel the receivers did a good enough jov to earn better opportunities next week we'll see it against Atlanta. And so on and so forth.

I still think ReStepSlo can Andy DuFresne his way onto the team, even if he has to crawl through 500 yards of Boyle's and Allen's shit to do it.

I feel you but I have OL trauma and won't trust anything until I see it.

Posters will see everything you post through a Restrepo-colored lens given your public stance on him. It's just what happens around here. You are correct though. Neither Strep nor any of the other young receivers are being done any favors by the current group of QBs. Ayomanor and Dike are locked in so they're fine and Oliver is getting some first team reps but everyone who isn't already running with the ones is pretty fucked.
