Titans Training Camp and Preseason Discussion

It’s amazing how many preseason games Willis has either started or played almost in its entirety.

Anyone that thinks this is good for Willis is crazy.

Callahan has already said the starters will not play on Saturday, plus 17 guys either DNP or left practice banged up today means this game against the Seahawks is being treated like the old final PSG where its largely camp fodder and non starting rookies putting snaps on tape.

I'm going to laugh my ass off if Philips is cut in a few weeks.

He was on the outside looking in entering camp due his punt return yips there simply wasn't a spot for him in the top 6 WR if he doesn't have a special teams role.

Less than two weeks out from the roster cutdown would be surprised if the top 6 WR were not

- Hopkins

- Ridley

- Boyd

- Burks

- NWI

- Jackson (Jha'Quan)

From there would expect Oliver and Kinsey to get practice squad spots, Philips might decide to seek an opportunity on another teams practice squad rather than stay in Nashville.

The gambles have to be smart gambles.  NWI isn't a world-beater, but he is consistent and versatile.  If you're cutting consistent and versatile players to keep guys that show potential but have never put things together consistently, it's a dumb gamble.

Negative. You gamble on the back of the roster to capture the explosive players, otherwise, you end up with NWIs who ain't shit as starters and never find Devin Hesters.

Seems like all our late round guys have a chance at sticking.

Haven't heard much about James Williams other than he's picking up the positional change at a good rate.  I like what he can potentially offer the defense if it works out.

In the good old days when our late round picks stuck and contributed we’d have good, competitive teams. Seeing these late round picks stand out is a good sign.

Listening to a couple of post practice podcasts from people who were in attendance at both practices sounds like Leonard Williams made JC Latham look pretty ordinary in pass protection, nothing we didn't already know but there is a significant difference in the consistency of Latham's pass vs run blocking.
