Derrick Henry is still an elite back.

I mean, factually, this is simply incorrect.

As I already stated, he had an almost 60% success rate rushing the ball. That's really high and it's one of the reasons why he had a ton of carries whereas Davis barely had any, which is one of the reasons why Davis had a pace of 800 or 900 yd rushing if he had played all season. And on top of that Christian McCaffrey was catching a ton of passes with a really good yards per catch rate.

Davis didn't even touch the ball enough to begin replacing Christian McCaffrey. On premise alone it fails, let alone how well each one was doing with the touches they got.

This is one of those times where you are looking solely at yards per carry and nothing else and it renders your overall point simply inaccurate.

I'm looking mainly at the impact that losing McCaffrey had on that team as a whole. There wasn't really much of one. They were bad with or without McCcafrey in Carolina. They are good with or without McCcafrey in San Fran. A change in RB didn't cause the team to become notably worse which is the point. We see things like this all the time too.

It’s also worth noting that Henry led the NFL in rushing attempts and had zero fumbles….something hasn’t happened in almost 40 years.   The last guy to do this was Gerald Riggs way back in 1985.

Look at all those defenders chasing down a rolling tomato can!

Derrick Henry sure seems to get a lot of those "anybody could do it, perfectly blocked plays" ever since he was declared a bum by message board illuminati.    Luckiest back in history, I gue

I'll help:

"I was wrong that Davis replaced Mccafrey just fine. He didn't and it was a big drop off.  However, it's worth restating that even a lower contribution from the running back position isn't generally going to have such an impact that a team is significantly better or worse based on that one change alone and examples prove pretty much useless when there's a quarterback change or a bunch of wide receiver injuries at the same time."

I appreciate the attempt but I just disagree that it was some huge drop off. McCaffrey just wasn't producing very well even before injury for Davis's production to be a big drop off. Your take is reasonable enough though. Not really worth a long argument IMO.

Imagine Henry breaking the record, winning the SB, and retiring as a Raven after a few more years...

They don't do that anymore. Yet unjust retire. Teams honor you. The HOF honors you. You don't go into the hall as a specific team.

JK Dobbins was 14 for 40 at 2.9 with 0 TDs and an L.

Someone mentioned how great he was doing in Balt and started the season with LAC.

I didn't watch the game, so I don't know if how many of those attempts were for 1st downs or other key plays that are overlooked.

Dobbins is a talented back. His problem is health. Dude is made of cotton candy. I haven't watched the Chargers much but on paper, that OL is elite. I'll have to catch a game and see if it plays as well as it's talent would suggest.

Btw, I don't really care that people point out that Henry is getting huge gains on well blocked plays. What bugs me is the insinuation that this is somehow unique to Henry. The overwhelming majority of big runs like that in the NFL happen because the OL made a great hole and the back went untouched untill the second level. When backs are contacted before the second level these type of runs rarely happen. It just stands out for Henry more because he's able to turn what would be doubles or triple for other backs into home runs. That's why the OL is so important.

I'm telling you they can't see the game.  All you have to do is go look at what they were saying about Mariota.  They grew up on Madden.  You think @oldschool ever played football, a pickup game without a helmet?  He was probably scared to watch it.

He can read.  That's about it.

Preach man! Without Henry this damn franchise doesn’t have a single playoff win this last decade. The disrespect to him by Titans fans has been nothing short of insane. Henry is the best player to ever wear a Titans Jersey for multiple years. No one is even a close second.

Right.
