Love seeing the team handle a long time player like this and love the way Simmons approached the extension.   Good vibes all around.

Simmons signs a monster contract and gets into even better shape. Dude is among the best Titans of all time

3 years is short enough for him to get another monster deal

Apparently it was tacked on and PK said it's through the 2030 season. So that's like 5 years out.

Well deserved.

and I’m laughing just remembering all those trade proposals etc from a few years ago that wanted to get rid of Simmons.

Yea, the trade Simmons crew needs to speak up.

Trading Simmons was a bad idea because you always retain great/elite players. No one player outside of a top tier QB is going to move the needle in wins and losses, it's a cumulative effect of talented players because it's the ultimate team sport. Trading away a great player just means you have another hole on the roster and a crap shoot of a chance to replace him with a draft pick.

But it is annoying that many of the same people chuckling at the idea of trading Simmons are the same people who thought we should have traded away Henry or should've let him walk, and thought it was okay to replace him with a clearly inferior Tony Pollard, a player who's going to touch the ball about 300 times in a season, more than any other offensive player besides the QB, and to think that a clear downgrade was completely acceptable and even applauded.

Seeing arguments made that improvements in one player vs their replacement is marginal. And therefore inconsequential. Well, guess what? You always pay a lot more for a little better, That's actually the case with everything in life you purchase. But in football it's because that little edge makes a huge difference in a season. That's why the guy with 11 sacks gets paid three times the amount as the guy with 8 sacks.  Just like a guy with 16 TDs is going to get paid more than the guy with 5. And it's even worse bc even the best paid RB makes less than the highest paid OG - it was never crazy money. It's just funny to me.
