They didnt just let the line fall apart to screw henry lol. Also henry wanted to leave so this whole convo is rather pointless in the end.

For every year they sucked, there was half of us screaming that they didnt do nearly enough.

They spent 3 first round picks in was it a 5 year window, gave out a few big contracts while up against the cap for half that time. Im notnsure what else they could have done outside not fucking up the players they picked outside skronski

It might of actually been more beneficial to wait (Glad we didn't) and let those guys set the market because they won't get paid what Jeff does because their production isn't there. They you could of been like well these guys got paid & this is the market. Who knows, could have saved a few million.

Im notnsure what else they could have done outside not fucking up the players they picked outside skronski Every season had threads on it and every seaso n there where extra options not taken to fill out the depth or top off the line. Nearly every year there were former all pros just sitting in FA waiting to be signed that werent getting signed because of age or injury history... then they'd go somewhere else for a year or two, look great, and be back on the market. You can draft highly, but still have vet starters and depth that these higher picks can learn under. Every year people say we cant do it, or that these players dont want to play for us, but then they still go to non contenders. The truth is, we werent serious about overhauling or developing the line. We had a "good enough" mentality and one where the attitude was to start players that werent ready rather than develop them and then start them. I was wrong on henry being on the down turn before he left but he wouldn't be doing what he is with the ravens with us either. And don't fucking forget they got 2 potential ball carriers in the backfield on virtually every play. In 2024 Lamar almost had 1k yards rushing himself. AussieTitanFan08
Couple of notes from Albert Breer and Adam Schefter on Big Jeff today. Also on ESPN NFL Live today Schefter mentioned how pissed other teams were when Borgonzi decided at the trade deadline that Simmons was not available. He didn't outright say it but Schefter hinted that Simmons would of been the most sought after guy at the deadline had he been available (more than Williams and Gardner). freakingeek
I'm so glad they rewarded Big Jeff. He earned that big fat contract. The guy never mails it in, even on a bottom dweller like the Titans. We could have commanded a haul for him if they had traded him. I'm really glad we didn't. prometheus

But some things do so far more than others. It is pretty well understood that run blocking is one of the most outsized. There is a reason teams dont give a shit about paying anything but the most elite running backs. If you can block you can stick dozens of guys back there and have near the same production. The style of running back also changes the blocking factor. Henry is a slow accelerator, always has been. A guy like peak chubb is less hindered by bad line play because he could avoid that early contact. A guy like Chubb is a backup with fewer years in the league.
