EC34 Posted May 7 Report Share Posted May 7 Oliver is a good football player. When he gets on the field, he flashes ... both at WR and on ST. He's young. He's cheap. This is most likely Ridley's final season in Tennesseee. I suspect Titans will stash a few young guys on Practice Squad. But I would bet Oliver holds a roster spot unless injured again in preseason. Starkiller Posted May 7 Report Share Posted May 7 That 6th WR spot is always subject to turnover but Oliver has shown more upside and special teams ability than the alternatives. Plus, they don’t have a lot of guys who can play at the X if there’s an injury, but Oliver can play there. It’s a lot easier to fill in at Z or the slot. He has strong ST value as an excellent punt returner, and he's a great route runner who catches everything. All of the coaches will be going to bat for him. I think thats what they are referencing. Target share % and % targeted are different metrics. The first shows the overall team effort to get them the ball, the second shows the chances he will get the ball on any given play. I'm not really making an argument here other than clarifying. His name came up an awful lot his rookie year camp & he looked the part in the preseason. The fact they didn't even get rid of him this year when he was basically available the entire year yet wasn't even elevated from the practice squad until week 12 tells you he can play.
