Nobody wants sued on this and there's a lot of careful commenting but nothing like what she said. freakingeek

freakingeek
20 hours ago, Jamalisms said: I agree. A lot of the reason she gets treated worse than whoever it was that got caught having a source edit his work (big journalistic no no) is because of the taboo of sex. It's not about the journalism. I also think a male reporter sleeping with a female coach would be way, way less a scandal ... so gender comes into it. But even I don't care to discuss that beyond mentioning it. Women have been struggling for centuries to overcome the stigma of being viewed as sexual objects and inferior to men in their abilities. In our society, they've made significant progress and it's a slap in the face to them for Russini to expose the fact that it still goes on, which diminishes the accomplishments of the women in sports who ARE doing it the right way and are successful. It revives the stigma that they "sleep their way to being successful businesswomen. Vrabel, on the other hand, is just a dumb jock with a giant ego who's trying to get his willie wet and using that power he has as a HC to make it happen. Then there's the moral side of the coin with both parties being married and being unfaithful partners and disrespectful to their spouses. The moral fiber in our society has been declining for a long time. prometheus, and Justafan
Jamalisms
Vrabel is worse than that. He's a head coach information gatekeeper with power and influence over which reporters gets opportunities. He gets praise for letting Theresa Walker / whoever her counterpart is in NE ask questions first. He's a champion of women journalists! Except he's also (allegedly) accepting sexual favors / sex acts / having an affair with at least one woman he gives access to. There's plenty wrong there beyond just infidelity. cenj
All coaches and GMs manipulate stories -- that's part of the PR game. None of us know the details, but if I had to guess, I'd assume Vrabel wasn't with Russini just to manipulate her into being his schill. He could have done that without the sex part (like every other coach and exec). So there is both the controlling the stories angle and the infidelity angle. But it feels particularly egregious because Vrabel has been pumped up in the media and some great, loyal guy. I'm quite sure he's pushed that narrative himself. And Russini has been especially dishonest in favor of Vrabel. The fact that everyone here knew Vrabel was Russni's source for years, and accused them of an affair, and she continued pushing stories that absolutely affected FAs and perhaps tampering...
